Government sponsors Humayun Ahmed's Devi

Humayun Ahmed's "Devi" has been chosen to be filmed in government sponsorship. "Devi", a famous novel of the celebrated novelist will get its big screen adaptation and people will now be able to enjoy it on a larger scale. 

The movie has been granted the government fund along with six other movies. Maksud Hossain will be adapting the screenplay for this movie. The government has recently decided to fund seven movies in the 2015-2016 fiscal year. Popular actress Joya Ahsan moved in favour of the film to receive the sponsorship, but she has dismissed any interest in directing the project, despite her name appearing in the government notification as director and producer. 

On the other hand, "Ankhi O Tar Bondhura" of Zafar Iqbal, "Shankhodhoni" by Morsedul Islam, "Gohin Baluchar" by Kamar Ahmad Symon, "Briddhasrom" by Badrul Anam Soud, "Sabitri" by Swapan Chowdhury, and "Boddhobhumitey Ekdin" by Kawser Chowdhury also gained government funding for the upcoming fiscal.
