Culture Initiatives honors Satyajit Ray on its first day

Recently launched with the aim of promoting prominent examples of films, music, art and theatre dramas that represent the rich culture of Bangladesh, Culture Initiatives is a brand new platform organized by The Daily Star. Hosted by the Chief of Culture Initiatives, Sadya Afreen Mallick, this new initiative plans on arranging quality discussion sessions and screening of culturally significant films. The first day of Culture Initiatives began with a special screening of the films of Satyajit Ray, hosted at The Daily Star Arts Precinct auditorium on Saturday, May 5. Present at the event were the filmmaker Akram Khan and Dr Zakir Hossain Raju, Professor at the Media and Communication Department of Independent University, Bangladesh. Alongside them, the participants engaged in a thorough discussion of the wondrous works left behind by the eminent filmmaker and author Satyajit Ray, in honor of his 97th birthday which was on May 2.
