Time To Shine

It's that time of the year when we look back in the past and also feel hopeful and excited about the future. The Bengali New Year marks a new start, a new chapter. And hence, at Star Showbiz, we sat down to ponder upon the film stars of our country, and what our expectations are from them this year. And hence, we have picked six stars, who are some of the most precious gems of the movie industry today. Read on, as we tell you about their success and fame - and our expectations on them for this year.

Arefin Shuvo

With the sweetest smile and a killer body, the industry's chocolate boy is a style icon for men and a heartthrob for women. Very chic and very contemporary, Arefin Shuvo has been very successful in his career so far. Many consider him just next to Shakib Khan while for many others he is the absolute best.  

His movies have done well, but we wish Arefin Shuvo will choose a couple of scripts this year that would not just turn into a major hit, but will also go on to become very memorable performances of his, something which will absolutely blow the audience's mind, and which will be talked about for years to come.

Shakib Khan 

He is the undisputed king of today's Bangladeshi movie industry. Having delivered hit after hit, he has a tremendous following all over the country.  He has proven himself over the years. Shakib Khan is the name that makes people flock to the theatres; Shakib Khan 'sells'. The brand that is Shakib Khan is synonymous with entertainment. So, if he is starring in a movie, chances are high that it's not going to fail at the box office. And that's why producers rest their confidence on him. 

And that's why we reckon it's high time that he chooses some unconventional scripts. In our film industry, we are in dire need of movies that are completely out-of-the-box and refreshingly original. With his popularity among the audience, and his reliability with producers, Shakib Khan is in a position to break away from the usual stuff. And, on a different note, we also wish to see him tie the knot this year!

Pori Moni

She is glamour personified. The audience loves to see her on screen, her beautiful face never failing to cast a spell on the hearts of people. Among movie actors, she is one of the most popular names, having a substantial fan base. 

However, she is yet to bag a major hit. At this point of her career, it is absolutely necessary to run the extra mile and deliver a few memorable performances that will solidify her foothold in this industry further. She is a good actor no doubt, but we would want her to improve her acting skills even further and work on some projects that will do her justice.

Mahiya Mahi 

What are the qualities you think are important for a movie star to have? You can mark off each of those characteristics when it comes to Mahiya Mahi. The film industry is a jungle, and it is not easy to make name for yourself. Always upfront and fearless, she has fought against all odds to be where she is today. 

This year, we would like to see her in more interesting projects. She is already doing well, but our expectations from her are much higher. 

Bappy

He is a relatively new face. And this face is, quite frankly, a very ordinary one: Bappy doesn't fit the conventional description of a superstar. Instead, he looks like the boy next door. But all these come second, as Bappy continues to bring success through his movies. 

Indeed, he has delivered many hits, but we are waiting for him to play a role that will redefine him as a hero. This year, we want to see him take up an ambitious project and deliver a mind-blowing performance. He has climbed his way to the top. But now, it is time for him to gear up and give that push that would place him among legends. 

Nusrat Faria 

She is quite a new face as well, but not an unknown one by any measure. The talented Nusrat Faria has made her own place in this industry. She is what people call 'star material;' someone who embodies the perfect combination of intelligence, glamour, style and wit that makes a star. 

However, she is yet to deliver a blockbuster hit. So far, she had some mid-range hits, but that's about it. Nusrat Faria is a talented actress, and it is possible for her to deliver something absolutely extraordinary. We hope that this year, the right project will come her way.
