PORI MONI: With 6 movies this year, this actress has been talked about all over the showbiz scene. Although none of her films were commercial successes, her performances were widely praised in many of the movies, especially "Mohua Shundori". At the end of the year, she was penned to appear in Gias Uddin Selim's next production "Shopnojal", and census shows that she has the potential to make it big in the following years.

SHAKIB KHAN: For two decades, he has consistently mesmerized cinemagoers of all ages. This year was no different with 5 crowd pleasers, 2 of which were huge hits. Actresses long for a chance to star alongside him. Pori Moni and Bindu were two of the lucky newcomers who got that chance. The New Year also holds prospect of many releases by the star.

Her appearance in "Black" recently was also praised by fans, even though it was not a commercial success. The New Year also holds good prospect for this glamorous actress with her new film "Sweetheart" releasing soon.

ARIFIN SHUVO: He was the most talked about after Shakib Khan among actors as his good performances were also complemented by commercial success of the films. Seen as the "Smart Hero" of the new generation, his performance in "Chuye Dile Mon" was widely acclaimed. Shafiuddin Shafi's "Warning" was also a good experience for him, and the new year holds many releases by the star, notable of which are "Ostitto" by Ononno Mamun and "Musafir" by Ashikur Rahman.

TV
TV audiences nowadays are very hard to captivate as they used to be in the past. People have somewhat turned away from TV dramas, but countless ones are still being produced regardless. However, the number of talked about productions have fallen significantly. The artists have failed to impress the viewers and the lack of good or innovative stories and the incessant screening of advertisements have added to their disdain. Most viewers have resorted to watching the good ones on YouTube. Yet, some actors and actresses did make a considerable impact among the fans, despite the difficulties.

MOSHARRAF KARIM: This man was as much discussed as he has been for the last couple of years. Productions such as "Sikandar Box Ekhon Rangamati", "Sikandar Box Ekhon Nij Graame", "Jomoj 4" and the likes have made him a fan favourite and he successfully became a bigger star than he already was.

TISHA: For the last few years, Tisha has held her very own place in the biz. She appeared in few dramas, but was very involved in terms of her character, dedication and acting skills. "Angry Bird", "To Airport", "Commercial Break", & "Protikkha" were just some of her most talked about appearances. She also films like "Mental" and "Ostitto", which became instant crowd favourites.

ZAHID HASAN: As an actor, he spent a busy year and appeared in many talked about dramas like "Baba Amar Eid" in addition to pulling a few directorial stints in the process. He did however face a bit of criticism for appearing in a drama titled "Kopa Shamsu".

MEHAZABIEN: The Lux-Channel i Superstar was the busiest among the newcomers of the industry with favourites like "Bibhor Bonolota", "Shonaye Shohaga", "Unmarried" etc.

Other mentionable events include Toukir Ahmed making a return to the stage after 12 years. Tinni also returned to dramas after 2 years with "Eki Brinte", as did Gias Uddin Selim by directing "Kaktarua".

MUSIC

Audio CDs as a medium is slowly heading towards retirement as digital content is much more accessible and convenient than CDs. The visual elements have become trendier and both artists and fans prefer making a few good singles along with music videos rather than producing complete albums. Many have chosen YouTube as their medium for release, but the audio CD publishing has not completely gone out of style yet. Many new albums were published by musicians, especially the new and upcoming artists. Here's looking back at the best of music in 2015.

TAHSAN: With no solo albums published this year, Tahsan managed to not only stay, but top everyone's chart and audience buzz throughout the year. The title track of the movie "Chuye Dile Mon" was wildly popular among the fans. His single "Shudhu Tomar Jonno" was also popular and received a considerable amount of requests on the radio. The duet "Onubhobey Tumi" with Puja was also widely praised by the fans.

KAZI SHUVO: He successfully created a separate specialty and persona for himself this year by keeping busy with music throughout the year. He managed to take part in several successful mixed albums, with great feedback from audiences.

MILA: She managed to stay among her fans with the one song she released this year titled "Nacho". The music video received more buzz than the song itself, and the fans just cannot have enough of her. Aside from lending her voice to the theme song for the Comilla Victorians cricket team, the pop artiste was busy with stage performances throughout the rest of the year.

PUJA: Singing a duet with Tahsan (Onubhobey Tumi) and Kazi Shuvo (Shaat Jonom) had this singer popularize among the fans almost instantaneously. In addition to keeping busy with playback singing, she will be more visible with the fans as she has more works coming up in the New Year.

In addition to more output from talented musicians like Kona, Nancy, Habib Wahid and Imran, bands like Chirkutt, Shironamhin and Lalon were highly popular. We also lost the likes of the great Gobinda Haldar, Farida Yasmin and Khyali Kormokar, and Showbiz fondly remembers their contributions to their fields.
