Conserving Folk Music

Shilpakala hosted a three-day event on August 11 to perform and discuss regarding folk music. The first day of the three-day convention was organized by the academy as part of a month-long programme to observe National Mourning Day on August 15. The convention featured over 150 bauls, many performances, a conference on the preservation of baul songs along with a peace rally. Among the list of bauls in the programme, eminent baul singer Fakir Hridoy Shah and Pagla Babul were present. The show began with Fakir Latif Shah's rendition of Lalon Shah's “Dhanya Dhanya Boli Tarey”. The seminar on preservation of baul songs took place on the second day and the rally promoting peace on the third day.
