A Bittersweet 2017 for Bollywood

2017 had been a momentous year for Bollywood. This year had seen both the best and the worst in terms of movies, career and relationships. We have been smitten by the box office bugs every time a film reached 100 crore club. We drooled over the pictures of Viruska's wedding and went crazy after watching the little Nawab Taimur Ali Khan dressed up in an off-white Nehru jacket on his first birthday. Along with all these celebrations came the joyous moments of Christmas Day and New Year's festivals.

2017 was remarkable for its wonderful movies which reached 100 crore clubs. On one hand we enjoyed movie like Bahubaali 2, which was a visual extravaganza. On the other hand we had movies like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha where the director held a mirror to the predicaments of society. Bahubaali 2 earned 511.30 crore after its release and secured the second position, ruling Tiger Zinda Hai till this publication. Golmaal Again and Jurwa 2 also hit the box office with their comic lines. Right after these two, films like Tubelight, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Jolly LLB and Raees also filled the producers' pockets after their release.

2017 also witnessed the biggest blasts of Bollywood. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's wedding topped everything. This majestic wedding ceremony took place at Borgo Finocchieto, a countryside resort in Italy which happens to be one of the most expensive holiday properties in the world. Virushka's outfit, reception and holiday destinations are still the talk of the town. At the very end of the year, the youngest Nawab Taimur Ali Khan and the princess of the Chopra family Adira Chopra stole the limelight.

Paparazzi's favourite star kid Taimur Ali Khan had turned one-year old and the internet was going crazy with pictures flooding in from his birthday bash. On his birthday, little Nawab dressed up in an off-white Nehru jacket which was teamed up with a baby pink shirt and white pants. Taimur had a blue-themed party with the entire Pataudi Palace being decorated with fairy lights and a whole lot of Christmas vibes. Adira's birthday was also celebrated in a grand style. Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora, Shilpa Shetty, Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor and many more were seen in the party. The kids received special attention in the playground with lots of fun and food.

Amid all these celebrations, however, the year didn't end in a positive note for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone. Their movie Padmavati couldn't be released against all the allegations brought out by the censor board and different communities of Rajasthan. The film had to go through five modifications and wait for 2018 to finally see the light of hope.

The most talked about Indian TV show Big Boss 11 had enraged its audience through incidents of body shaming, insults and tantrums in 2017. Salman Khan gave an earful to Big Boss contestant Priyank Sharma for passing derogatory remarks against Shilpa Sinde and Arshi Khan. Other contestants also passed comments that generated chaos outside both in and outside the house. Overall, Bollywood 2017 was as entertaining as always.
