Veteran actress Rani Sarkar passed away on 7th July around 4:00 am. Rani Sarkar was born as Mossamot Amirun Nessa Khanam at Shonatol village in Shatkhira's Kaliganj upazila. Her acting career began as a stage performer in 1958. In the same year, Rani got her first break in A J Kardar's film Dur Hai Shukh Ka Gao. Later in 1962, she worked with the famous producer Ehteshamur Rahman in an Urdu film called Chanda. In 2014 she won The Daily Star Standard Chartered Celebrating Life lifetime achievement award and in 2016, she received the Bangladesh National Film Award for lifetime achievement for her contributions to the growth of the Bangladeshi film industry. The timeless works of Rani Sarkar will forever be treasured.
