YouTube channels you should follow

YouTube is a great place to find fun yet informative content. With so many popular youtubers out there, and new channels mushrooming every day, it's tough to find originality amidst the banal. But every now and then, you stumble upon channels that are lesser known but definitely worth a look. Here are a few of my top picks:

CAREERS AND PERSONAL FINANCE

From budgeting to career advice, The Financial Diet is a channel that covers pretty much everything students and young professionals need to know about. Founders Chelsea Fagan and Lauren ver Hage post videos every Tuesday tackling money and career-related questions we all face at some point. Whether it's deal-breakers in your internship application, or ways to track your budget during college, the channel offers practical advice that saves you countless hours (and money) otherwise wasted on trial and error. The blog also offers easy-to-read, relatable content in multiple areas, including travel, living, career and college.

DIET AND NUTRITION

Pick Up Limes, a channel run by registered dietician and nutritionist Sadia, can best be described as therapy. The pastel backdrop, the soothing tunes and even Sadia's calm voice can be quite relaxing after a stressful day. She primarily offers insight into a vegan lifestyle but her channel isn't limited to that. Health nut or minimalist, you'll find Pick Up Limes to be chock full of tips for healthier eating and lifestyle habits. While I doubt I'll ever convert to veganism, I've definitely picked up a few healthy eating habits from her channel and blog.

LIFESTYLE

Pick Up Limes introduced me to minimalism, and its strongest advocate, Jenny Mustard. A self-proclaimed minimalist lifestyle blogger, her content promotes a lean existence free of unnecessary clutter. She also has a very unique sense of style - her blog flaunts some major fashion inspiration. In an era where trends change in a heartbeat and 'less is more' is a lost concept, a blog featuring clean designs and an equally simplistic philosophy is a breath of fresh air. Since watching her videos, I've definitely downsized my closet, and reduced unnecessary shopping binges. My closet space and wallet thanks me.

MAKEUP REVIEWS

Stephanie Nicole is somewhat of a glitch in the world of disingenuous makeup reviews and overly hyped product promotions. In fact, she's the exact opposite of your typical beauty blogger. For starters, her channel has far less followers than the likes of Jaclyn Hill and NikkieTutorials. Yet, her reviews make headlines due to their sheer authenticity and attention to details. As an insider in the beauty industry, Stephanie knows how different makeup products are manufactured. It's this insight that brought her into the spotlight when she reviewed the Kylie Lip Kits and found the formula to be almost identical to ColourPop's liquid lipsticks. Since then, her makeup reviews have developed their own cult following, with subscribers lauding her no-holds-barred approach. From ingredient breakdowns to the cost per ounce, she lays all cards on the table so you know exactly where your hard-earned money is going. If, like me, you want a few quality items instead of unfiltered makeup hoarding, her channel's a must for you.
