Subject: Please give me raise

Dear Sir,

I'm addressing you with "dear" because you truly are a dear old fellow. The two of us have known each other for quite a while now and I consider ourselves family at this point. We've seen each other at our highest highs and lowest lows. I was there in the office all night trying to finish your reports the night you got a divorce and had to sleep in your office. You might recall the morning coffee that was sent to your office; I did that. I've taken your dog to walks every single day of his life until the day he died in my arms. I even attended his funeral at your place because you had that really important meeting you couldn't miss. To this day, I can't sleep at night without Poodles' face flashing before my eyes. He was a good boy.

Okay, I apologise for beating around the bush. Let me get straight to the point. I've been an unpaid intern at your office for the past twenty-two years now. I understand that you only take in the best as your permanent employee but it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to lead a life like this. I have a wife and four kids now. I am no longer the young adult that I was when I first started this job. I have the responsibility of taking care of my kids and giving them a happy life. But, alas! It is becoming increasingly difficult for me to do so with no salary. I do believe, in all my time here, I have proved myself to be a valuable employee to you and to this company. But, if you still have doubts about my abilities and you're hesitating to give me a proper contract, I completely understand. In that case, I would like to humbly ask you to at least promote me to paid intern and give me a raise.

Sincerely yours,

Taqdirul Islam
