Where did Bangladeshi universities rank in different global university rankings in 2022?

In 2022, Bangladeshi universities featured in three major university rankings.

QS World University Rankings 2023

Dhaka University (DU) and Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) were ranked in the 551-600 bracket and the 601+ bracket respectively in the QS World University Ranking 2023. 

Furthermore, the QS Asia University Rankings 2023, published on November 8, included 14 Bangladeshi Universities. 

DU ranked highest in the country at 151st position according to the Asia University Rankings 2023. It scored 32.4 out of 100 in a scoring system based on academic and employer reputations, the number of staff members holding a PhD, and the percentage of international students.

BUET and North South University (NSU) also ranked relatively high, at the 199th (with a score of 26.9) and 219th positions (with a score of 24.8) respectively. These were the only three Bangladeshi universities that received a score in the Asia University Rankings 2023.

Other Bangladeshi universities in the ranking include BRAC University at the 301-350 range; Daffodil International University ranked between 351-400; Chittagong University of Engineering Technology (CUET), East West University (EWU) and Islamic University of Technology (IUT) ranked between 401-450; Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) ranked between 451-500; Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) and United International University (UIU) ranked between 501-550; American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) ranked in the 651-700 bracket.

Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023 

For the first time in 50 years, a total of five Bangladeshi universities have been ranked in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023, released on October 12, 2022. 

NSU and Dhaka University were ranked in the 601-800 range, while Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), BUET, and KUET were ranked in the 1201-1500 bracket worldwide. 

The THE World University Rankings are based on 13 performance indicators that measure an institution's performance across four areas – teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

U.S. News & World Report 2022-2023 Best Global Universities Rankings

In the 2022-23 US News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings, published on October 25, DU and BUET are the only two Bangladeshi universities that were included in the rankings. This ranking focuses on schools' academic research and reputation, not their separate undergraduate or graduate programs.

DU ranked at number 977 globally scoring 39.2 out of 100, and at 263 in Asia. BUET, on the other hand, although included in the list, remained unranked.
