TYPES OF FANFICTION WRITERS

Fanfiction is one of the most creative ways to interact with a fandom. When you're frustrated with the current plot or looking for something new, fanfiction is your holy grail, and the brave writers your salvation. However, even these writers can get stereotyped. Can you pick your favourite?

THE CELEBRITY

You know this one; they're the most popular writer in the fandom, everyone knows them. All their works get hundreds of likes and comments just minutes after posting. People create fan-art for every chapter, some even build shrines for them. You either find them brilliant or overrated, but everyone agrees that they're insanely talented.

THE UNUSUAL

This is the author who always tries something out of the box, either leaving you staring at your screen in awe or scratching your head in confusion. Odds are, they were the first to revolutionise many different fandom tropes. None of their works are the same, and you truly admire their ability to come up with such unique plots.

THE ONE HIT WONDER

This is that author, with that one fanfiction practically everyone loves, but when your friends ask you about more of their works, your mind comes up blank. It may be that they wrote just one fanfiction and nothing else, or that none of their other works ever reached the same league as their most popular one. Either way, you'll always appreciate them for writing the fanfiction of your dreams.

THE MISSING

Thinking about this author makes you want to cry. Everyone knows that one author who wrote a great fanfiction and left it incomplete, never to be seen again. There are many variations of this type. Either they update their work with new chapters once every two years, or they left their work at a cliff-hanger and never updated it again. You just wish and pray they'd come back.

THE HIDDEN GEM

If you can't recognise them, that proves the point. This is the author lost in the crowd – their work barely gets any attention, and just one comment is more than enough for them. They're the one whose writing is brilliant and could easily pass of as a professional writer. Reading their work leaves you in awe, and you wonder how it's possible that fanfiction is free because people like them truly deserve more than they get credit for. So, when you read your daily dose of fanfiction today, make sure to leave them a like and at least a comment because it will truly make their day.
