Things I’ve seen on social media about Padma bridge’s first day

The Padma bridge is now open to the public, and people are going wild. Here's everything I have seen or read on social media and across various news outlets regarding the first opening day of the Padma bridge.

1. TikToker arrested for unscrewing bolts and screws from the Padma bridge

Some people take photos to commemorate an event or visit. This guy just woke up in the morning and thought, "Yes, I will steal some screws and bolts from the bridge as souvenirs."

As expected, he did get arrested. Does this also mean he is probably the first guy to get arrested on the Padma bridge?

2. BRTC bus breaks Padma Bridge toll plaza barriers

This is just another accident. Nothing unusual about this. However, what's sad is that it had to happen to the Padma bridge; a bridge that had just opened this morning. Talk about being unlucky. 

Also, I wonder what could've led to this incident. Crossing toll barriers is nothing new to these drivers, especially those who travel on long routes. So, how were they not more careful?

3. Man caught on camera urinating on the Padma bridge

Initially, it may seem funny. However, if this is indeed true, I see this as a mark of disrespect. 

Not only is public urination a crime in itself, to do it on what is to be one of the greatest landmarks in the country is nothing but being disrespectful to the people who worked for years on this mega project.

4. Another man caught unscrewing bolts and screws from the Padma bridge

As I was writing this piece, I came across another news article talking about a different guy caught unscrewing bolts and screws from the Padma bridge. What is this weird and rather absurd fascination towards Padma bridge's bolts and screws?

5. People stopping their vehicles to take pictures 

The respected authorities were pretty adamant when they asked travelers not to stop vehicles and take pictures on the Padma bridge. This could lead to unnecessary traffic jams, which otherwise could be avoided. Sadly, it seems that people were not willing to listen to these guidelines. Stopping vehicles and taking pictures on the Padma bridge was a common sight today. 

While I understand the excitement, it's still disobeying a direct instruction from the authorities concerned.
