Professor Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain reappointed as Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University

Prof. Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain has been re-appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University by the honourable President of Bangladesh and Chancellor of Universities. Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain previously served as the Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University from November 1, 2018 to October 31, 2022.

Prof. of Soil, Water and Environment, Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain was Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University before joining Eastern University. He received his PhD degree in 'Sustainable Development' from the University of Queensland, Australia in 1993 and a Commonwealth post-doctoral fellowship from the University of Aberdeen, UK.

Prof. Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain performed various important duties including that of Dean, Provost, Senate and Syndicate member, Vice President and General Secretary of Teachers Association of Dhaka University.
