IUB holds 2nd Space Innovation Summit 2019

Aiming to motivate aspirants on space education and to inspire youth in space issues sharing knowledge in aeronautical science, the 2nd Space Innovation Summit 2019 was held on July 19-20, 2019 at the Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka.

ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP, as the chief guest, inaugurated the two-day summit, with University Grants Commission (UGC) member also Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Ltd Director Prof. Dr. Sazzad Hossain as special guest. The inaugural session was chaired by IUB Treasurer and VC (in-charge) Khandaker Iftekhar Haider. Space Innovation Summit 2019 chief patron and chief coordinator of Bangladesh Innovation Forum, also NASA Solve BD founder, Ariful Islam Apu was present in the inaugural session.

As many as 1,500 participants participated the summit where 16 seminars and 2 workshops took place. The seminars were divided in four different sessions, which covered rocket technology, satellite making and communication, robotics for space exploration, and careers at NASA.

Dr. Ashraful Amin, Associate Professor of CSE department of IUB spoke on July 20 morning about IUB’s mission to join the University Mars Rover Competition in USA both in 2017 and 2018, and later presented the stats and trivia of “Apollo 11: Mission to the Moon”. EEE department of IUB and IEEE IUB Student Branch were the event partners of this summit.
