FIFA 23 is set to feature the fictional club AFC Richmond, announces EA.

The make-believe football club, which is part of the hit Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso, is going to be playable across different modes on EA's final iteration of their football game with the FIFA licence. Players will be able to choose AFC Richmond across different game modes, including Career Mode, Kick-Off, Online Friendlies and Online Seasons.

The fictional stadium Nelson Road will also be featured in the game.

Ted Lasso, Coach Beard, and AFC Richmond players like Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, Sam Obisanya, Roy Kent, and Isaac McAdoo will all be featured in the new game. Ted Lasso will be available for players to pick as the playable manager in Career Mode, and AFC Richmond will be swappable for any team in any league playable in Career Mode.

In a new trailer yesterday, EA announced the inclusion of AFC Richmond and their American manager, Ted Lasso, in FIFA 23. The trailer included famous footballers like Wayne Rooney, Ian Wright, and Jack Grealish speaking about the wild character featured on the Apply TV+ show.

The trailer ends with Ted Lasso uttering the now famous EA Sports words in his own iteration.

"EA Sports. I'm in the game," he says, followed by an excited squeal of, "Ooh! Did I sound like the guy?"
