14 Bangladeshi univs in QS Asia University Rankings 2023

DU highest at 151st

QS Asia University Rankings 2023 have been published this week, featuring over 700 universities from across the continent. The rankings have included 14 Bangladeshi unis, with Dhaka University (DU) ranking highest in the country at 151st. DU scored 32.4 out of 100 in a scoring system based on "academic and employer reputations, the number of staff holding a PhD, and the percentage of international students".

Among other Bangladeshi universities, Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET) and North South University (NSU) also ranked relatively high, at the 199th (with score of 26.9) and 219th positions (with score of 24.8) respectively. These were the only three Bangladeshi universities that were given a score.

The top spot was taken by Peking University in Beijing, China and second spot was taken by National University of Singapore. Tsinghua University, another university from Beijing, China, ranked third.

Among Bangladesh's South Asian neighbours, the highest ranking Indian university is Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, ranking in at the 40th position. Seven Indian universities made it into the top 100.

Three Pakistani universities also made it to the top 100. Highest among them is National University of Sciences And Technology (NUST) Islamabad at the 67th position.

Other Bangladeshi universities in the ranking are – Brac University at the 301-350 range; Daffodil University ranked between 351-400; Chittagong University of Engineering Technology, East West University and Islamic University of Technology ranked between 401-450;  Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Independent University, Bangladesh and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology ranked between 451-500; Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology and United International University ranked between 501-550; American International University-Bangladesh at the 651-700 range.
