How to feel more accomplished on weekends

The weekends, what a wonderful concept! Imagine if they didn't exist, what a nightmare that would be. While for the vast majority of us weekends are the only redeeming factor of the entire week; the two days of solace that we receive helps rejuvenate us for another dreadful week of work and classes ahead, it isn't an entirely alien concept for us to feel guilty on occasion for having wasted these two miraculous days.

A large part of this is due to us rarely being productive on our weekends. Most of us spend the larger part of the day in bed followed by either binge watching TV shows or YouTube. For the most part, that's how a lot of weekends end up being spent, and by the end we wish we had used the time more efficiently, if not for work, at least for more utilitarian leisure.

Therefore, in order for all of us to make better use of our weekends (because this writer is guilty of wasting his weekends as well), here are some ideas for you to try; so that by the time the weekdays roll in, you're feeling refreshed and happy, instead of frustrated about having wasted the little free time you had.

THE BASICS

Sometimes doing something as simple as getting a haircut, shopping or going out for a walk can help make you feel more accomplished. These tasks aren't heavily time consuming, and since you'd eventually have to get them done, why not take a few hours out to do them over the weekends instead; plus you'll still have plenty of time to take naps before and afterwards.

PLANNING A HANGOUT

Making plans with your friends to hang out over the weekend is another simple idea. While the initial planning might seem like a bit of work, the eventual result where you and your friends are hanging out is all fun and no work. (Note: Friends required for this step.)

HEAD OUT INTO THE WILD

Not literally, but just go outside. Visit a park, go watch a play, start learning an instrument or language; there's plenty of activities available all throughout Dhaka and getting into some of them not only cuts the guilt, but also adds to your own body of skills. Maybe you'll find something that really captures your attention and that will fix you up for many weekends to come.

WORK/STUDY

While this might seem a tad bit extreme (and I personally never thought I'd say this), but setting a few hours aside to work, be it for your job or for a university assignment, can be extremely helpful. While most of us love leaving such tasks till the absolute last minute, spending a few hours of the weekend on them can help take the pressure off later on in the week, ultimately resulting in less stress. (Who knew?)

At the end of the day, how you spend your weekend is your choice; if you're someone who doesn't feel guilty about sleeping the entire day, more power to you. But for those of you tired of this endless cycle of guilt, I hope that some of the ideas above will be help you feel, even if it's a tiny bit, more accomplished on your weekends.
