The meme culture is expanding as people are now exploring more possibilities in this field than ever before. The result of this is the birth of new memes almost every day. Thus, comes the need to keep up with the latest memes. After all, if you can't be part of the humour while everyone else around you is immersed in it, it's your loss.

LOOKING THROUGH THE COMMENTS

You're probably not the only one who didn't understand the meme or get its backstory. There must others as well and perhaps some of them didn't hesitate to question the origin of the meme in the comments section. Hence, you skim through the comments and their corresponding replies to see if any kind hearted soul has left you guys the explanation or the backstory of the meme in question. 

ASK AROUND

At times, even the comment sections may not be useful when it comes to lit, dank memes. This just goes to show that you would have to be an intellectual to understand a particular meme. So why not ask your meme expert friend for his interpretation and/or explanation of the meme? If your friend is as good as he thinks he is when it comes to memes, you'll probably have no difficulty to understand it.

WATCHING AN ENTIRE SERIES/MOVIE

Meme templates are often scenes taken out of a movie or a television series and slightly edited as per the creator's needs. The humour portrayed in the meme may be clear to us if we're familiar with the show from which the template originated from. However, if we've not seen it, chances are high that we can't make heads or tails of it. And hence, to calm our curiosity and to keep up with the rest of the world, we will probably end up binge watching Sacred Games not because of its high ratings, but because the memes are apparently delicious.
