RETRO

Stolen moon scales, fresh parchments,

Distant polaroid and broken pendants.

Trampled roses and strings of guitar,

A jade hair-comb and a forgotten letter.

Satin bows and Victorian chandeliers,

A cinematic melody and a crackling fire.

Moats of dust and a sapphire heart,

Cropped grass and an oblong flower.

The bleached sky and its blue mirror

The ashen storm and its furious terror.

The casual footsteps over the pristine sand

The chalky moonlight smiling on my hand.

All of these were once memories

Of a distorted past and an old lady's dreams.

All of these were once my treasure

That I kept in the recess of my mind forever.

And so I smile, let them go

Lazily, like the pleading eyes of a doe.

For here I am and there I was not,

To remember where I lost them all.
