NSU launches country's first Model Pharmacy

North South University (NSU) has established the much anticipated Model Pharmacy in its premises, which is the first of its kind among both public and private universities in Bangladesh. Mohammed Nasim MP, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, inaugurated the Model Pharmacy on April 4, 2018 at the NSU campus. Major General Mohammed Mostafizul Rahman, Director General, Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) attended the event as special guest.

It is expected that NSU family comprising 25000 students, faculty members and staff will receive service from this Model Pharmacy. To provide authentic medicine at competitive prices, NSU Model Pharmacy will procure medicines directly from leading pharmaceutical manufacturers. Proper conditions for storage, compounding and dispensing will be maintained and there will be no risk of expired or counterfeit medicines. Other services will include digital patient database and safe disposal of unused medicines.

At the end of the ceremony, guests also inaugurated the University's Genome Research Institute and Medical Centre's Diagnostic Laboratory. M. A. Hashem, Member, BOT; Prof. G. U. Ahsan, Pro-VC (Designate); Prof. Hasan Mahmud Reza, Chairman, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences; and renowned officials from the country's leading pharmaceutical industry including Md. Abdul Muktadir, Managing Director, Incepta Pharmaceuticals; Halimuzzaman, Managing Director, Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Ltd.; Mosaddek Hossain, Managing Director, UniMed & UniHealth Mfg. Ltd.; and Shahiuzzaman Khokon, Managing Director, Hudson Pharmaceuticals Ltd. were present on the occasion.
