ULAB Sustainable Development Club’s Week Long “Campaign for Restoring Our Earth”

ULAB Sustainable Development Club (USDC), cherishing Earth Day 2021's theme of "Restoring Our Earth" has successfully organised "Campaign for Restoring Our Earth", in collaboration with Farming Future Bangladesh (FFB) and with the supervision of Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) with a view to mainstreaming sustainable practices among the Bangladeshi youth.

Out of 100 applicants, 20 most creative and dedicated participants from different universities, schools and colleges of Bangladesh were finally selected for the campaign, who did not only attend the workshops interactively but also planted trees and established segregated bins at their homes for waste segregation.

The workshops dated from April 24 to 29, 2021 and primarily focused on spreading the knowledge and significance regarding the topics of "Growing your Own Food", "Identifying Recyclable Solid Waste", and "Social Behavior Change Communication" in order to make the participants aware of the effective and sustainable techniques that can be easily incorporated to their daily lives.

Participants were awarded the certificates of participation on the final day of the campaign, where the Acting Vice Chancellor of ULAB Prof. Shamsad Mortuza; Special Advisor to ULAB Board of Trustees Prof. Imran Rahman; Mehdi Rajeb, Director, ULAB Co-Curricular Office; Joy Bhowmik, Advisor ULAB Sustainable Development Club; and Sadique Uddin, Senior Manager, Project Management and Communication, Farming Future Bangladesh joined the program for encouraging the participants to continue such sustainable practices in the long run.
