Open call for ‘Celebrating Democracy Through Photography’

What actions do you take to bring about positive change in your society? As a young person, there are numerous ways you can make an impact, whether you decide to volunteer with a non-governmental organisation, take part in online networking, or contact a member of parliament.

Take part in the photography contest for celebrating the "International Day of Democracy" on September 15, 2018, by sending in your photographs that showcases your dimension of democracy in your community, region, country, or the world.

Participants can send a maximum of 5 (five)original photos, which must be titled. The pictures may reflect one of many of the following themes that align with the spirit of democracy in your view. For example, labour conditions at work; consumer rights; communities that showcase special needs (specially-abled individuals/children/older person); the spirit of volunteerism; community leadership/demonstration of leadership; violation of basic human and civil rights; public health facilities and safety hazards; expression of freedom of speech; rights to education; and many more.

Send your entries via e-mail to opencall@emkcenter.org with the subject line "Celebrating Democracy Through Photography". Include a caption to tell us what is happening in the photo.

Deadline for entries is 5PMon September 12, 2018. Please be aware that we may publish the name and photo of the contest winners.
