NSU organises workshop on mental wellness titled “Let’s Talk”

The youth of today face many psychological issues such as stress, depression, addiction, anxiety etc. but they often do not know how to cope with these difficulties. Keeping the scenario in mind, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of North South University (NSU) organised a workshop on mental wellness on October 30, 2018 at AUDI 801 of NSU. LifeSpring - a leading mental healthcare institute in Bangladesh facilitated the workshop titled "Let's Talk" which was open to both students and faculty members alike.   

The workshop began with a welcome address by Dr. Nazmun Nahar, Director, IQAC, NSU. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of mental wellness for students as well as for faculty members. She thanked all the participants for attending the workshop and invited them to freely participate in the discussion session.

Two prominent psychiatrists, Dr. Munmun Jahan and Dr. Shusama Reza Rakhi, conducted the workshop. Dr. Jahan talked about the problems affecting mental state including stress breakdown, anxiety, depression, and addiction while Dr. Reza discussed several ways to overcome these problems and to maintain happiness and mindfulness in one's life.

The workshop was well participated by students and faculty members of NSU. The sessions were interactive and participants shared their own experiences as well. There was a Q&A session towards the end of the workshop. Some good recommendations and advices came out on what can be done at critical situation of mental state.  The programme ended with thanking the guests and attendees and presenting tokens of appreciation to the invited guests.
