South Point students excel in JSC and PECE

South Point School and College, seeking the best results through intellectual discussions of the main text in a creative way, has done well in the Primary Education Completion Examination (PECE) and Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinations of 2019. In these two exams, with 100 percent passing rate, 856 students achieved GPA 5 out of total 1354 candidates. There is no record of failure of any of the examinations in various institutes, including the Boards, from its foundation to the present, because of constructing curriculum and practice in a creative way instead of hand notes, suggestions and word-based learning. At the same time, South Point achieved first class result around the Gulshan area on JSC Exam. And most importantly, students of South Point are doing well in the competitive exams for the higher education.

South Point ranked 8th in the high school examination in the same year with the recognition of best educational institution by the Dhaka's education board. Its English medium branch is not far behind. From the very beginning, it has earned the "Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award" and The Daily Star Award for achieving country highest results in O and A Level exams.  

UODA holds closing ceremony of HRM Major Fall Semester 2019

The University of Development Alternative (UODA) arranged a closing ceremony of HRM Major Fall Semester 2019 recently, organised by Human Resource Department at its auditorium in Dhanmondi. UODA VC Prof. Dr. Rafiqul Islam Sharif inaugurated the event as chief guest. Director of UODA Master's program Prof. Dr. Abdullah Salim presided over the programme.

Proctor Associate Professor Tapon Kumar Biswas; Program Coordinator Associate Professor Mostafa Kamal; Program Convener & Academic Affairs Assistant Professor Dr. Abdullah Hil Muntakim; and Assistant Exam Controller Abdur Rakib were present as special guests in the programme. Faculty members, students and corporate professionals were also present.  

SUB and Brown University officials hold discussion on research collaboration

On January 9, 2020 a discussion meeting was held between Brown University, USA and Department of Public Health, State University of Bangladesh (SUB). Dr. Susan Cu-Uvin, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medicine at the Alpert School of Medicine and Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice at the School of Public Health; and Ruhul Abid MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Warren Alpert Medical School and Principal Investigator at Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC), Cardiothoracic Surgery Division at Rhode Island Hospital were present. On the other hand, SUB Board of Trustees President Dr. A.M. Shamim; VC; Prof. M. Shahjahan Mina, Pro-VC; Prof. Dr. Anwarul Kabir; Shamsul Wares, Dean of School of Science and Technology; Prof. Dr. Nawzia Yasmin, Dean, School of Health Sciences and Head, Dept of Public Health; Registrar Bahauddin Muhammad Isa; Prof. Dr. Shaker Ahmed, Department of Business Studies; and other faculty members and students from Department of Public Health were present at the meeting.

Brown University delegates illustrated their intention to support in achieving competitive scholarships for higher studies and research activities in Brown University especially for SUB students. Both the universities agreed on developing joint research based on emerging public health issues. 

Southern University organises int'l civil engineering conference

A two-day international conference titled "Research and Innovation in Civil Engineering" was held on January 10-11, 2020 at Institution of Engineers, Chittagong. Department of Civil Engineering, Southern University of Bangladesh organised the conference. Chairman of IEB Civil Engineering Division Engr. Habibur Rahman inaugurated the conference as the chief guest. Presided over by Prof. Engr. Mozammel Hoque, Advisor to Civil Engineering Department of the University, the conference was addressed by Initiator and Founder Prof. Sarwar Jahan, Pro-VC, Prof. Engr. M. Ali Ashraf and Dean of Science and Engineering Prof. Dr. Sharifuzzaman.

Prof. Dr. Jahangir Alam, Former VC of CUET and VC, USTC was present as the chief guest in the concluding session.

Major General Abu Sayeed Md. Masud, Prof. William E. Kelly, and Md Shamim Akther presented keynote speeches on the occasion.  

BUBT organises Job Fair 2020

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organised a job fair with the help of bdjobs.com on January 8-9, 2020 at BUBT permanent campus. An inaugural session was held on the occasion on January 8, 2020 in the International Conference Hall of BUBT, Rupnagar, Dhaka.

Prof. Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Chairman, BUBT Trust inaugurated the job fair as the guest of honour. Md. Aslamul Haque MP, Dhaka 14 and AKM Fahim Mashroor, Chief Executive Officer, bdjobs.com were the special guests. Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, VC, BUBT presided over the function. The welcome speech was delivered by ABM Mesbahul Hasan, Deputy Director of Career Guidance and Counseling, BUBT.

Fifteen companies participated in the job fair to collect CVs, conduct interviews of BUBT graduates as well as current students to provide full-time and part-time jobs.

Distinguished guests, members of BUBT Trust, Treasurer, Students' Affairs Advisor, Deans of different faculties, Research Director, Senior Professors and Chairmen of different departments, Registrar, Controller of Exams, Joint Registrar, Proctor, Joint Director (Accounts), teachers and students were present in the inaugural session. 

AIUB hosts int'l conference on computing advancements

The Department of Computer Science of American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) organised the International Conference on Computing Advancements, ICCA-2020, on January 10-12, 2020 with cooperation of ACM SIGAPP.

Prof. Dr. Sazzad Hossain, Member, UGC was present as chief guest. Among other guests, Nadia Anwar, Chairman of AIUB BOT; Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan, Founder Member, AIUB; Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, Pro-VC, AIUB; and Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, were present. Prof. Dr. Ng Giap Weng, Associate Professor, Universiti Malaysia Sabah and Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, Director, IICT, BUET delivered keynote speeches.
