IUB launches IEEE Robotics & Automation Society Student Branch Chapter

IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (RAS) IUB Student Branch Chapter officially began its journey at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) after a grand opening ceremony on November 19, 2019.

The RAS branch chapter was officially inaugurated by the country's first andro humanoid NAO robot of EEE Department of IUB. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak, the branch mentor of IEEE IUB Student Branch, was the chief guest. Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, the branch counselor, was the guest of honour, while Dr. Lamia Iftekhar, the Vice Chair (Activity) of Women in Engineering Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section, was the special guest. Nasfikur Rahman Khan, Advisor of IEEE RAS IUB Student Branch Chapter, also spoke on the occasion. The four-member executive committee of IEEE RAS IUB Student Branch Chapter comprising the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer were introduced by the RAS advisor. After the inauguration, a six-wheeled bomb defusal robot was showcased along with NAO's performance. 

EDU students visit Dubai as part of IGLE course

East Delta University (EDU), Chattogram has introduced a course titled International Graduate Leadership Experience (IGLE), which aims to familiarise learners with foreign cultures and industries to create modern and efficient entrepreneurs and leaders.

On November 23, 2019, the first batch departed for Dubai, UAE. Founding Vice Chairman Sayeed Al Noman said that the main focus of EDU has always been to create worthy representatives in the international arena. Beyond classroom lectures and textbooks, students require international exposure to enter the highly competitive global market, and this is the central idea behind IGLE.

Associate Dean of the School of Business Administration Dr. Mohammad Rokibul Kabir said that they will sharpen their skills in areas such as research understanding, sustainable leadership, digital leadership, moral and ethical leadership, and innovative leadership.

Associate Dean of the School Engineering Dr. Nazim Uddin said that on this tour, the students will participate in several sessions where they will visit many prominent industries and government institutions to learn the administrative and managerial ins and outs.

CSE Department of UAP organises intra-department Math Olympiad

 

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organised an Intra-department Math Olympiad on November 23, 2019 at the department premises.

One hundred and twenty students took part in the competition. Certificates and medals were given to top 20 students who secured 50 percent marks. The competition also awarded top three contestants with certificates, medals and crests. 

Monzoor Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman, BOT distributed the crests and certificates among the winners while Air Commodore Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer and Prof. Dr. Bilkis Jamal Ferdosi, Head, CSE department, were present among others.

IUBAT holds national seminar on SDG

International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) organised a daylong national seminar on Sustainable Development Goals in its campus on November 21, 2019. The theme of the seminar was "Ways to achieving SDG educational targets 4.3, 4.4, 4.7 in Bangladesh".

Principal Coordinator of SDGs, Prime Minister's Office Md. Abul Kalam Azad was the chief guest. The seminar was organised by the IUBAT Institute of SDG Studies (IISS) and Knowledge-Based Area Development (KBAD) unit of the university.

Prof. Selina Nargis, Treasurer and Executive Director of IISS gave the welcome speech. Prof. Mohammed Ataur Rahman, Director of IISS and KBAD, highlighted the vision of Professor Alimullah Miyan of establishing an education bank to finance higher study for ESD skilled human resource development in his keynote speech.

Sun Lei, Educational Programme Specialist of UNESCO; Sultana Afroz, Additional Secretary, ERD, UN; and Abdullah Al Hasan Chowdhury, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Education were special guests.

Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, VC of IUBAT, presided over the ceremony. Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Hamida Akhter Begum led the technical sessions with closing remarks.
