UAP holds orientation programme for Fall 2019

The orientation programme for the students of newly enrolled students of Fall 2019 was held at University of Asia Pacific (UAP) permanent campus on October 19, 2019.

Monzoor Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) was the chief guest and delivered his speech for newly enrolled students. National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, VC, UAP chaired the session and delivered his welcome speech.

Among others, Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir, Pro-VC; Air Cdre (Retd.) Ishafaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer; Ziaul Islam, Proctor; and two alumni addressed the programme.  Members of BOT, Heads and faculty members of the departments also attended the function.

IIT, DU holds TechCrunch 2.0

With the goal of spreading awareness and insight on the field of IT to female aspirants and their guardians, the Institute of Information Technology, University of Dhaka (IIT, DU) organised a workshop named TechCrunch 2.0 on Oct 18, 2019 with the support of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and DUCSU.

Over 70 female students from 30 colleges of Dhaka, Kishoreganj, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Sylhet and Mymensingh participated in the event along with at least one guardian.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, VC of University of Dhaka. Guests included Prof. Dr. Md. Shariful Islam, Director, IIT DU; Ryotaro Hayashi, Social Sector Specialist, South Asia Regional Department at ADB; Prof. Dr. Md. Mozahar Ali, Higher Education Specialist (ADB - ICSETEP); Md. Arif Ibne Ali, Science & Technology Secretary, DUSCU; and Md. Shayakh Shihab Uddin, President, IITSEC. Prof. Dr. Kazi Muheymin-Us-Sakib of IIT, DU presided over the inaugural ceremony.  Multiple sessions followed that tackled different aspects of the workshop – cyber security for females, curriculum and career of software engineers, contribution of women in IT and myth busting for guardians. Speakers consisted of teachers of IIT, DU: Prof. Dr. Zerina Begum; Associate Professor Dr. Naushin Nower; Assistant Professor Md. Saeed Siddik; and lecturer Nadia Nahar. Guest speakers of these sessions included Mahmuda Afroz Lucky, ADC, Detective Branch, DMP; Nasheeba Selim, Senior Social Development and Gender Specialist, Bangladesh Resident Mission, ADB; Prof. Dr. Lafifa Jamal, Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, DU; Luna Shamsuddoha, Founder and Chairman of Dohatec New Media, and Founder and President of Bangladesh Women in Technology.

IUBAT holds reception for 70th batch graduates

 

The Placement and Alumni Office of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) organised a reception for the 70th Batch Graduates of IUBAT on October 17, 2019 at its permanent campus. About 300 graduates participated in the event.

In his address, VC Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab advised the graduates to continue education to upgrade their knowledge and skills. He also offered some valuable tips for getting a job and career advancement.  Prof. Selina Nargis, Treasurer; Prof. Dr. Khair Jahan Sogra, Dean, Business; Prof. Dr. Abul Khair, Dean, CAAS; Prof. Md Lutfar Rahman, Registrar; AKM Sharfuddin, Director, Placement & Alumni; M Rabiul Islam, President of IUBAT Alumni Association; and Ahmed Sultan Moyeen (Robin), IUBAT Alumni also spoke on the occasion. Deans, coordinators, teachers, students, officers, and employees were present at the ceremony. In the ceremony, graduates of 70th batch were presented with IUBAT Alumni Crests.

DIU hosts High Commissioner of Nigeria

 

Ambassador and High Commissioner of Nigeria to Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka & Nepal Major General (Retd.) Chris Sunday Eze, visited Daffodil International University (DIU) on the installation ceremony of the newly nominated student ambassador of Nigerian students in Bangladesh and award giving ceremony for the graduated students of Nigeria from DIU. Prof. Dr. Yousuf M Islam, VC of DIU was present as the guest of honour. The newly nominated students ambassador Engr. Usman Muhammad Tomsu, a student of Software Engineering Department, presided over the programme.

Squadron Leader Suleiman Baba Suleiman, Deputy Defense Adviser Finance, Nigeria High Commission in New Delhi, and Frank, President of the Nigerian community highlighted the importance of studying abroad and making new friends, learning about new cultures as well as getting an international experience. VC of DIU described Nigerian students as disciplined and hardworking and urged them to sustain the tempo.
