SEU observes National Mourning Day

Southeast University (SEU) observed the National Mourning Day 2019 marking the 44th anniversary of the death of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On this occasion a discussion meeting and dua mahfil was organised by SEU on August 22, 2019.

AKM Mozammel Haque, Minister of Liberation War Affairs was present as the chief guest. The discussion meeting was chaired by the VC of Southeast University, Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin while M. Kamaluddin Chowdhury, Representative Member of BOT was present as the special guest. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Hakim, Director of IQAC gave the welcome speech. Maj. Gen. Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd.), Registrar of SEU also took part in the discussion session.

Among others, Adviser to BOT, Pro-VC, Deans, Chairmen, teachers, officials and students were present on the occasion. The programme ended with prayers for Bangabandhu and the welfare of Bangladesh.

Cider International School arranges Music Fest

Cider International School celebrated Music Fest in Junior School on Thursday, August 8, 2019, in the school auditorium. The programme commenced at 11 AM. Principal Gyanesh Chandra Tripathi; Vice Principal Neeti Tripathi; and Academic Coordinator (CC) Alexious Serrao welcomed and congratulated the chief guest Syed Shahid, Director, Well Group (Dhaka) and a renowned musician of the country.

The young talented students from Play Group to Grade 5 took to the stage with their colourful music and dance performances. The special essence of the programme was the performance of the chief guest and the guardians. The grand ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Amrin Husain, Academic Coordinator (NC), Cider International School.

EU organises essay competition on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

 

On the occasion of National Mourning Day and 44th Death Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a prize giving ceremony for an essay competition was held on Monday, August 26, 2019 on the Eastern University (EU) premises.

"The role of young generation is to fulfil the dreams of Bangabandhu" was the title of the essay where intermediate level students from various colleges in Bangladesh took part. Swapan Barmon from Birganj Govt. College, Dinajpur stood first in the competition. Ramisha Tabbasum of Holy Cross College stood second and Md. Shariful Alam Sakib from Adamji Cantonment College stood third. The participants who secured the top three positions were awarded cash prize along with books and certificates.

A discussion and dua mahfil was held in the seminar hall of the university after the prize giving ceremony.

Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-VC of Dhaka University was the chief guest while Liaquat Hossain Moghul, Chairman, BOT of EU was the special guest in the programme. Prof. Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain, VC of the university was presided over the programme.

BUBT organises inaugural ceremony of Moot Court Society

The inaugural ceremony of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) Moot Court Society (MCS) was held at the International Conference Hall of BUBT permanent campus, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, Dhaka on Monday, August 26, 2019.

Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, VC, BUBT graced the occasion as the chief guest while Prof. Md. Enayet Hossain Miah, Treasurer, BUBT and Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Advisor, Students' Affairs, BUBT were present as the special guest.

Dr. Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian, Professor, Department of Law, University of Dhaka, as well as the Moderator of Dhaka University Moot Court Society (DUMCS) was the guest of honour. Prof. Dr. Syed Sarfaraj Hamid, Dean, Faculty of Law and Chairman, Department of Law was the Session Chair. Omar Faruq, Moderator of BMCS and Lecturer in Law, Shamima Jahan Santa, President, BMCS, Md. Benyamin, Secretary, BMCS spoke at the programme.

Distinguished guests, Members of BUBT Trust, Deans of different faculties, Controller of Exams., Chairmen of different departments, Proctor, officials, teachers and students attended the programme.

GUB hosts international seminar on space law

A day-long international seminar on space law was held at Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Center for Air and Space Law organised by the university's Department of Law. The seminar titled "Commercial Exploitation of Outer Space through Satellites: Prospects and Challenges" some of the promising research work on the area of National and International Aerospace Law was presented by the attendees.

Prof. Dr. Golam Ahmed Faruqi, Dean of Faculty of Law, GUB presided over the seminar while Prof. Stephan Hobe, Institute of Air and Space Law, University of Cologne, Germany addressed the occasion as key speaker. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Pro-VC of GUB; Md. Shaharul Huda, Pro-VC of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University; Prof.  Dr. Sarkar Ali Akkas, Professor, Department of Law, Jagannath University; Dr. Parvez Ahmed, Chairman of the Law Department, GUB, spoke as guests.

The conference provided a multi-disciplinary platform for international and national experts to discuss and learn various aspects of space activity aligned with international space law and policy.

In seminar, the keynote speaker Prof. Hobe discussed the jurisprudential enigmas of the international space treaty. He thoroughly discussed the provisions of the international space treaties and emphasised the importance of a more solid and authoritarian set of laws to regulate the traffic and resources management of the outer space.
