SEU holds Literature Award 2018

Southeast University (SEU) organized the "Literature Award Giving Ceremony 2018" on March 9, 2019 in the National Art Gallery Auditorium, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at Segun Bagicha Road, Dhaka.

Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, VC, SEU, chaired the ceremony while M. A. Manan, MP, Minister of Planning, was the chief guest.

K M Khalid, MP, Minister of Cultural Affairs, was present as the special guest and Md. Rezaul Karim, Chairman, Board of Trustees, SEU Trust, was present as the guest of honor.

Prof. Dr. Anisuzzaman, educator; Prof. Shamsuzzaman Khan, former Director General, Bangla Academy; and Habibullah Shirajee, DG, Bangla Academy were also present.

Novelist, Selina Hossain and writer, Abul Momen received the Southeast University Literature Award 2018. Prof.

Abdullah Abu Sayeed, founder and chairman of Bishwa Sahitya Kendra; and Dr. Serajul Islam Choudhury, Professor, Emeritus were awarded lifetime achievement gold medal at the event.

Mohammad Nurul Huda, Ekushey Award Laureate poet, nationally renowned literateurs, Members of BoT of SEU Trust, Registrar, Director IQAC, Department Chairs, Directors and faculty members attended the program.

 

DIU launches March of 'Mom-Preneure: Mothers will be Self-Reliant'

Daffodil International School (DIS) and Daffodil International University (DIU) launched "Mom-Preneur: Mother will be Self- Reliant", a special initiative to empower mothers of all ages.

Selima Ahmad, MP, President of BWCCI, inaugurated the program as the chief guest while Hosne Ara Begum, Managing Director (Secretary), Bangladesh High Tech Park, was present as the special guest.

The event was also presided over by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil Family; Md. Asaduzzaman, Policy Expert, a2i project; Mohammad Nuruzzaman, CEO, Daffodil Family, Dr. Md Mahmudul Hassan, Principal, DIS. The program was conducted by KM Hasan Ripon, Advisor, BSDI.

GUB hosts 'International Women's Day'

Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) observed 'International Women's Day 2019' by organizing a rally and a short discussion led by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication-JMC in collaboration with Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio Communication(BNNRC) at the university's campus in the capital on February 8, 2019.

Prof Dr. Golam Samdani Fakir, VC, GUB inaugurated the program as the chief guest, while Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Pro-VC, GUB; and Md. Shahid Ullah, Treasurer, GUB were present as special guests. The event was also presided over by Dr Md. Aliur Rahman, Chairperson, Department of JMC.

More than 200 participants, including teachers, students, BNNRC staffs, university staff, participated in the rally.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan said, "Media is the platform to disseminate the practice of gender equity and equality. Our university is fortunate for being a part of the campaign."

ULAB drops the curtain of 'ULAB Biz Wizards 2019'

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) hosted 'ULAB Biz Wizards 2019', an Inter College National Management Fest on March 8, 2019 at its Campus-A auditorium. 88 students from 22 colleges participated in the two day-long event.

Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, former Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh was the chief guest of the event. Tridib Sen Gupta, Professor, St. Xavier's College, Kolkata; and Abdullah Mohammad Talha, Deputy Managing Director, Noman Group were present as special guests.

Prof. H.M Jahirul Haque, VC, ULAB; Prof. Shamsad Mortuza, Pro-VC, ULAB; Prof. Imran Rahman, Special Advisor, ULAB Board of Trustee and Dean, ULAB School of Business; and Prof. Akhtar Ahmed, ULAB Registrar were also present during the event along with faculty members, admin members and students.

Adamjee Cantonment College was declared as the champion, while Notre Dame College, and Scholars School and College were declared as first and second runners' up, respectively.

The event was sponsored by Noman Group.

IUBAT celebrates International Women's Day

International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) observed the International Women's Day 2019 with the slogan ''Think equal, build smart, innovate for change" at its auditorium.

The event included a rally, discussion sessions, followed by a cultural performance.

Sarah Kabori, Former Member of Parliament and National Award winning Actress and social worker, was the chief guest during the event.

Prof. Dr Hamida Akhtar Begum, Pro VC, IUBAT presided over the ceremony.

Prof. Selina Nargis, IUBAT Treasurer; and AKM Sharfuddin, Director, IUBAT delivered their speech highlighting the essence of the day.

The program was coordinated by Syeda Ajanta Israt, Asst. Professor, IUBAT.

Md Sadekul Islam, Asst. Professor and Deputy Director, International Programs, offered the vote of thanks. 

The program was well attended by local and international students, faculty, and officials of IUBAT.

 

IUB students receive Erasmus+ Scholarship

Four students of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) have been awarded Erasmus+ Scholarship to study for a semester in Europe. These students had been selected from a pool of 350 applicants who now have gone to study at the University of Maribor (UM), Slovenia.

Erasmus+ is fully funded by the European Union (EU). "The Best Universities in New Europe in 2018" by the Times Higher Education magazine, ranked the University of Maribor (UM) among the top 10 research-intensive universities from the new EU member states.

Ankur Datta and Samira Fairuz Ahmed, students of CSE, will be hosted by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the UM; Fahim Ahmed Sarkar, student of Finance, will be hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Business at the UM; and Jahanara Tariq, student of English Literature, will be hosted by the Faculty of Arts at the UM.
