BUBT students observe National Road Safety Day 2018
Students of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) formed a human chain in front of the university gate, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, Dhaka, observing National Road Safety Day 2018 on October 22, 2018.
Respected members of BUBT Trust; Treasurer; Registrar; Joint Registrar, Deans of all faculties, Chairmen of different Departments, Proctor, faculty members and officials also joined the programme.
The human chain was organised with the help of BUBT Rover Scout members.
UAP organises Club Fair, Fall 2018
The Directorate of Students' Welfare (DSW), University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organised a daylong Club Fair, Fall 2018 at UAP Plaza on October 22, 2018. The aim was to attract and encourage newly admitted students to join club activities of their choice and enliven their university life.
Fifteen central clubs exhibited their accomplishments and activities before the newly admitted students. National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, VC, UAP inaugurated the fair. In his speech, the VC emphasised on the importance of co-curricular activities in and explained how getting involved in club activities would help the students to grow up as a well-rounded citizen. Hundreds of enthusiastic students came to visit and choose the clubs of their interest.
Among others, Air Cadre Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Director, DSW; heads of different departments; Sarwar R. Chowdhury, Registrar; club advisers and faculty members were present at the fair.
IUB hosts breast cancer awareness seminar
Soroptimist International (SI) Club of Dhaka organised a seminar at Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) on October 15, 2018 at IUB's own campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. The School of Public Health at IUB and Apollo Hospitals, Dhaka jointly sponsored the event. Dr. SMG Kibria, Senior Consultant, Apollo Hospitals, Dhaka was the keynote speaker.
Prof. M. Omar Rahman, VC, IUB and Prof. Dilara Chowdhury, President, SI Club of Dhaka also spoke on the occasion. Prof. Rahman, in his speech, recommended regular self-examination of abnormality in breasts and getting early treatment, if needed. Prof. Chowdhury discussed the wide-ranging activities of SI Club and the contributions that the club has made so far to the humanity and the society.
Through his presentation, Dr. Kibria illustrated all aspects of breast cancer that include the stages, causes, prevention and treatments. He also urged upon the audience not to panic in any situation and go for visiting the doctors since breast cancer is certainly curable if detected at the early stage. Following the presentation, floor was open for Q&A session for teachers, students and guests.
Bangladeshi students win award at International Young Innovators Summit in Japan
International Young Innovators Summit is a youth conference that connects aspiring young innovators with international speakers, innovators, experts, lecturers, and influencers from different backgrounds. Entering the first annual session, this summit aimed to bring together 50 young innovators into global networks. The goals were to enrich the essential skills and knowledge for future innovators, encourage to identify and think about the world's problems coming up with creative solutions and preparing the participants as innovators for the better world.
This summit is officially organised by Studec International and Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). The main theme of this year's summit was "Designing Innovation for the Better World".
This year, Mahamudul Hassan Tonmoy and Ridwanul Arefin Arnob represented Bangladesh with their "Project Cure". After two rounds of selection from all projects, "Project Cure" received the "Best Idea Innovation Award".
EU holds freshers' reception for Summer and Fall 2018
The freshers' reception for undergraduate and graduate programs of the Summer and Fall semester 2018 of Eastern University (EU) was held on October 20, 2018 at permanent campus of EU. Prof. Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) graced the occasion as the chief guest. Engr. Kh. Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, BOT, EU; Md. Azizul Islam, Former Chairman, BOT; Mohammed Ali Azzam, Member, BOT and Chairman, Admission Committee were present as the special guests. Prof. Dr. Engr. Aminul Hoque, VC (Designate) of EU presided over the programme. Among others, the BOT Members; Treasurer; Registrar; Deans; Chairpersons and Faculty Members of EU also spoke on the occasion.
AIUB hosts Engineering Jubilation 2018
Department of Computer Engineering (CoE) and Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) organised "AIUB Engineering Jubilation 2018". AEJ 2018 was a week-long programme of events including outdoor and indoor games, participated by both AIUB students and numerous college students, interactive engineering contests, as well a cultural programme.
The event was arranged with the aim to motivate and inspire young engineers as well as future engineers and also to showcase the vast achievements made by the Department of CoE & EEE to the rest of the world. The ceremony was graced by the chief guest, Nadia Anwar, Chairman, BOT, AIUB & Vice President, Office of Student Affairs, AIUB; Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, Pro-VC, AIUB; Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Vice President, Academics, & Dean, FBA, AIUB; Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB along with Department Heads and faculty members.
IUBAT arranges seminar on awareness and prevention of sexual harassment
International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) arranged a seminar on "Awareness and Prevention of Sexual Harassment" on October 20, 2018 at the Conference Hall organised by Complaint Committee of IUBAT.
The resource personnel of this seminar were human rights activist Advocate U.M. Habibun Nessa, a member of prevention of sexual harassment committee of TIB and Advocate Kamrun Nahar, both members of Naripokkho. The welcome speech was given by Dr. Farjana Sultana, Chair of Complaint Committee of IUBAT and Associate Professor of College of Agricultural Sciences. The presidential speech was given by Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, VC of IUBAT. Treasurer of IUBAT Prof. Selina Nargis gave a speech on the prevention workplace harassment and thanked the speakers for the discussion.
