BRAC University donates Tk. 65 lakh for flood victims

BRAC University has donated BDT 6.5 million (Taka 65 lakh) for people affected by floods in the country's northeastern region. On behalf of the university, BRACU VC Prof. Vincent Chang handed over the cheque to KAM Morshed, Senior Director, Advocacy For Social Change and Technology, BRAC.

Staff and faculty members voluntarily provided one day's gross salary from their June payroll. BRAC University matched the same amount of donation collected. The university has donated the amount to  the BRAC Emergency Flood Assistance Fund. BRAC has been working to support the victims alongside the local government since the beginning of the flood situation.

Prof. Chang initiated the donation program to stand beside the vulnerable communities in the flood affected areas. "Amidst the economic downturn from the pandemic, the humanitarian fallout from this flood situation can be catastrophic. Let us unite in supporting the destitute in this dire situation," said Professor Chang.
