IUBAT hosts seminar on "Brain Engineering: Future Opportunity and Feasibility"

International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) organised a seminar on "Brain Engineering: Future Opportunity and Feasibility" at its campus auditorium in Dhaka.

The purpose of the seminar was to disseminate knowledge on BCI, CBI, Bio-net, Bio-Money, AI and Robotics and to create interest among the audience to learn the ways of exploring unlimited brain power, improving quality of life and knowing the scope of research and job opportunity in the field of Brain Engineering.

The seminar began with the opening speech of Brig. Gen. Dr. Md Zahid Hossain (Retd.), Pro-VC, IUBAT followed by an introduction on the topic by Prof. Dr. Bishwajit Saha, Convener of the seminar.

The guest speaker S. M. Mahabub Alam, MD & CEO, Massive Star Studio Ltd. & Massive Business Academy stressed on how the brain is one of the most astonishing and intricate parts of the human body. Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor, IUBAT, talked about how brain engineering will revolutionise the world and engineers will further engage themselves in brain research.

The programme was concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Dr. Abdul Haque, Chairman of the session. Approximately 100 teachers and students attended the seminar, including Professors, Chairs, Coordinators, Faculties, Staffs, and students of the various departments of IUBAT.

 

YUFE, China delegates visits EU campus

Delegates from Eastern University's (EU) partner, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) visited EU on May 28, 2018.

Prof. Dr. Engr. Aminul Hoque, Vice Chancellor, EU; Muhammed Siddique Hossain, Treasurer, EU; and Abul Basher Khan, Registrar, EU welcomed the delegates, Jin Guoxing, Director, International Student Education (ISEAO) and Administration Office; Li Ting, English Teacher, YUFE; Wang Rongdang, Director, International Cooperation and Exchange Office; Ge Mao Guang, Director, Finance Office; and Wang Qiu, Assistant Director, ISEAO.

The delegates met the Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Registrar, Dean and Chairman of Faculty of Business Administration, respected faculty members, and high officials of EU during their visit. They discussed about sending EU students and faculty members for higher study and exchange programs to YUFE during the meeting. In addition to that, both of the parties agreed to extend cooperation and collaboration between YUFE, China and EU.

The program was organized by Dr. Md. Aftab Anwar, Asst. Professor and In-Charge of Career Service and International Office (CSIO) of EU.

 

 

ULAB students visit University of Colombo

A group of five students of MBA and EMBA program of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) visited University of Colombo in Sri Lanka, from May 13 - 21, 2018 as a part of ULAB's outreach program. The study tour was organised as a part of student experience and knowledge sharing program by ULAB which enables MBA students to gain experience on regional development and gain industry exposure.

The team met Prof. Lakshman Dissanayake, Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo; Dr. Pradeep Dharmadasa, Dean, Faculty of Management and Finances; Prof. Nayani Melegoda, Dean,  Graduate Studies; and Dr. R Senathiraja, Director, Centre for Contemporary Indian Studies, at the Office of International Affairs at the Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo.

They visited the cities, Colombo, Galle and Kandy during their tour. As a part of the program, they went to one of the largest plants of CEAT tyres in South Asia, which was established in 1965 in Colombo. They also visited the headquarters of Dilmah Tea in Colombo, a global Sri Lankan Tea brand, where they were shown the production process of making the tea.

The team also participated in a graduate seminar organised by the Faculty of Graduate Studies at The University of Colombo. The seminar was conducted by Riaz Hamidullah, High Commissioner of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on "Bangladesh's Journey on Development, moving beyond LDC and Perspective on Regionalism".



DScE hosts special lecture by Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad on "Poverty, Environment, and Enterprise"

On May 26, 2018 Dhaka School of Economics (DScE) hosted a special lecture by the eminent economist Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad on "Poverty, Environment, and Enterprise".

Dr. Jaheda Ahmad, former professor, University of Dhaka was a special guest during the event and Rehana Parvin, Asst. Professor of DScE also spoke in the program.

In the address, Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad stressed the need for enterprise development to reduce poverty in the country and to maintain its journey to becoming a developing nation. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Coordinator, Entrepreneurship program argued that Education on Entrepreneurship Economics can help enforce self-reliance as well as provide a development gateway for the country.

 

 

DIU holds seminar on 'Relationship between Human Brain and Question'

A seminar on "Relationship between Human Brain and Question" was organized by the Rotaract Club of Daffodil International University (DIU) on May 24, 2018 at 71 Milonayoton of the university premise.

Nahim Razzaq, MP, Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Youth & Sport and Convener of Young Bangla was present as the chief guest of the ceremony. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU; and Prof. Dr. Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor, DIU, were present as special guests. Presided over by Dara Abdus Sattar, Associate Head, Department of EEE, DIU, the seminar was conducted by Humaun Kabir Polash, Asst. Officer, DIU.
