AIUB organises awareness programme on UGC Digital Library
An awareness programme on UGC Digital Library (UDL) was held at American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) on January 22, 2018, organised by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP). Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Member, UGC graced the programme as chief guest. Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta ndc, Project Director (Additional Secretary), HEQEP was the special guest. The programme was chaired by Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, VC, AIUB.
Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB delivered the welcome address, while Farheen Hassan, Associate Professor, had a brief presentation on AIUB Library. Nushrat Sharita, Program Officer of UDL described the facilities provided by UDL. A presentation on E-Resources was delivered by the Md. Nazim Uddin, PhD, Senior Manager, Library and Information Services Section (LISS), International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B). A group of officials from UGC and HEQEP were also present in the said event. Deans, Directors, Department Heads, faculty members, Library & IQAC officials and other officials of AIUB were present.
IIUC Law Association elects President and General Secretary
Emranul Hoque Opu and M. Bokhari Rashid Panna, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, have been elected as President and General Secretary respectively of IIUC Law Association, Dhaka, as per the election held on January 24, 2018.
The Chief Election Commissioner Anwar Parvez, of IIUC Law Association, Dhaka, declared the result of Election 2018 accompanied by other two Commissioners Joynul Hossain Rubel and Shahabuddin Mahatab in the presence of ex-Law graduates of IIUC.
NSU club donates winter clothes among the underprivileged
North South University Social Services Club (NSUSSC) organised its annual event, "Winter Clothing Drive", to stand selflessly beside the people in need in the winter. The lowest temperature in the last 50 years was recorded this year. On January 26, 2018, one thousand blankets were distributed among the underprivileged people by the NSUSSC at the Sadar Upazila of Kishoreganj district. Abdullah Al Masud, Upazila Executive Officer was also there to support this act of humanity.
SEU hosts freshers' reception and orientation programme
Southeast University (SEU) organised the freshers' reception and orientation programme of Spring Semester 2018 on January 27, 2018 at its permanent campus at Tejgaon, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, VC presided over the ceremony while Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Media Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister was present as the chief guest. Md. Rezaul Karim, Chairman, BOT, SEU Trust was present as guest of honour and Registrar Maj. Gen. Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, delivered the welcome speech at the programme. Among others, Members of the BOT, SEU Trust; Deans; Chairmen; Directors; Faculties; Officials and students attended the programme.
The chief guest mentioned that some of the possibilities have become successful and the rest of them yet to succeed for which national unity is essential. He hoped that the new generation especially the students will play a vital role in making the nation's dream came into a reality.
OIS celebrates Annual Sports Day 2017-18
Oxford International School (OIS) celebrated its Annual Sports Day 2017-18 with great zeal and fervour on December 26, 2018 at the premise of Physical Education Field, Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
The celebration began with offering a guard of honour to the chief guest by the scout team of OIS. After a solemn recitation of the Holy Quran, the scout team hoisted the national flag and sang the national anthem. Chief guest Biren Shikder, State Minister, Youth and Sports Affairs; Principal Dr. Naullage Shanthi Perera Paduka; and President M Shakawat Hossain gave their valuable speeches. Then there was a rally with various themes, arranged by junior athletes.
The final sports competitions included 100 m race, sack race, relay race, 20 m race, chocolate race, pick up the ball, one-leg balance fight, math race, skipping rope, long jump, etc. among 5 different groups of students from Dhanmondi (Main & Junior), Gulshan, Banasree, and Uttara campuses. After the successful sports event, prizes were distributed and winners announced. The event ended with a raffle draw participated by all the students, parents, teachers, faculties and everyone from OIS family.
IUB holds orientation programme for MPH students
The School of Public Health of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) organised an orientation programme on January 12, 2018 to welcome the new MPH students of Spring 2018 semester. Prof. Dr. M. Omar Rahman, VC, IUB and the Dean of the School was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
SPH faculty members were also present in the programme. Students from the new batch expressed their expectations with the participants. Students from previous batches also shared their experiences in the event. The orientation programme was conducted by Dr. S.M. Raysul Haque, Academic Program Coordinator, MPH and Sr. Lecturer, School of Public Health, IUB.
