BUBT holds training on research methodology 

Inaugural ceremony of "4th Intensive Training Program on Applied Research Methodology" took place at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) on November 19, 2017. Prof. Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Member of BUBT Trust and Convener of Academic Advisory Committee graced the programme as the chief guest and Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, VC of BUBT and Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Proctor, BUBT were present as the special guests while Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business, BUBT, presided over the ceremony.

Eminent educationist and Research Director of BUBT Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh delivered introductory speech as the Coordinator of the programme. Deans of all Faculties, Controller of Examinations, Chairmen and faculty members of various departments were also present on the occasion.

 

IUBAT holds orientation of Fall 2017 freshmen

The 76th orientation for freshmen of Fall 2017 of the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) was held on October 23, 2017 at the permanent campus at Uttara, to welcome the freshmen students of the BAEcon, BATHM, BSN, BSAg, BCSE, BSCE, BSEEE, BSME, BBA & MBA programmes.

Speakers on the occasion highlighted the excellence of IUBAT University, and added that the focal point of modern higher education in contemporary world is mostly demand-based. Universities have to educate the tertiary students in accordance with the latest modules, curricula and methodology.

Members of the BOG, all the Chairs of different colleges/departments, Directors, Coordinators, faculty members, officers, alumni and staff members of IUBAT University joined the programme. 

 

YWBD concludes Illuminators 2.0 programme

YouthWalk Bangladesh (YWBD), a voluntary youth organisation, recently concluded its month-long signature programme known as "Illuminators 2.0" at its education project, Road to School. The programme commenced on August 11, 2017 and continued till September 15, 2017. It brought together 9 volunteers from diverse educational background, ranging from HSC first year or equivalent to university 2nd year students, who were assigned to teach the underprivileged kids of Road to School. 

The programme had leadership and other career-oriented workshops taken by reputed professionals for the participating students. According to the participants, the workshops proved to be very beneficial for them as they got to learn about some practical tips that would help them to approach their career better.

"Illuminators is one such programme that not only brings youth to observe problems firsthand, but also inspire the students to be part of the solution," said Salman Sabbab, Co-founder and President, YouthWalk Bangladesh.

After successfully graduating from this programme, the Illuminators were invited to a graduation ceremony where Dewan Mohd. Ashraf of Shameem and Company, official sponsor of the programme, handed over the certificates to the new graduates of Illuminators.

CCPD at Presidency University organises seminar

The Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) of Presidency University organised a seminar on October 16, 2017 in Aman Conference Hall. The seminar was conducted by Osama Bin Noor, Queen's Young Leaders Award winner of 2016. He was recognised for his exceptional contribution as a co-founder of "Youth Opportunities", an online platform which advertises scholarships, internships and conferences, a resource co-ordinator of Volunteer for Bangladesh Dhaka District and the host of Teen Tekka, a popular radio show dedicated to teenagers in Bangladesh. Rokeya Afzal Rahman, Chairperson of BOT was the chief guest at the seminar. VC Prof. Dr. Matiur Rahman along with the Advisors, Deans and Chairmen were present at the seminar.

 

EU organises 1st Intra-University Business Competition

Eastern University (EU) successfully hosted its first ever Intra-University Business Competition on October 18, 2017, organised by the Business and Social Entrepreneurship Club (BSEC). Eight teams participated in the grand finale held throughout the day; Team Ignite comprising of three members from Business and Social Entrepreneurship Club emerged victorious. 

The first workshop taken by Samid Razzak from 10 Minute School focused on evaluating real life examples of previously solved business cases, while the second workshop conducted by Naveed Adnan focused on the concepts and techniques of solving business cases.

The final round was graced by Managing Director of Prime Bank Ltd. Ahmed Kamal Khan Chowdhury as the chief guest; special guests Abul Khair Chowdhury, former Chairman, BOT of EU, and VC of Primeasia University Prof. Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury. The session was chaired by the VC of EU Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab. 

 

BRACU hosts HULT Prize 2018 briefing session

The briefing session of HULT Prize 2018 @ BRAC University (BRACU) hosted by BRAC Business School and co-hosted by IABC took place on October 14, 2017, in the Auditorium of the university's Mohakhali campus.

This year the theme of HULT Prize 2018 is "Harnessing the Power of Energy to Transform the Lives of 10 million People". The briefing session started with Tasneem Omar Ava presenting an opening speech as the Campus Director, followed by Mahreen Mamoon, HULT Prize Coordinator, who then invited the keynote speaker, Sajid Iqbal, on stage. Stawb Peter Halder, a BRAC alumnus, was the next guest speaker who motivated the participants by emphasising on following their passions. Afterwards, former HULT Prize Campus Director and HULT Prize 2014 Regional Finalist, Asif Chowdhury shared some insightful moments from his HULT journey.

The session ended with the unveiling of the HULT Prize app.

 

IUB holds seminar on climate change funding policy

The School of Environmental Science and Management of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) organised a seminar on "Climate Change Funding Policy" on October 22, 2017 at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. Dr. Md. Saifur Rahman, Senior Assistant Chief, Ministry of Environment and Forest, was the keynote speaker of the seminar.

The programme started with a brief introduction of the speaker given by Dr. Md. Abdul Khaleque, Dean, School of Environmental Science and Management. Prof. M. Omar Rahman, VC, attended the seminar as the chief guest and delivered his speech highlighting effective use of funds for implementing environmental policy in Bangladesh.

Dr. Rahman, in his presentation, focused on the national and international dimension of climate change policies, key points of climate change negotiations and climate change policies and plans of Bangladesh.

 

UAP arranges orientation programme

The orientation programme for the students of newly enrolled of Fall '17 was held at UAP permanent campus on October 21, 2017.

Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, VC, UAP addressed his valuable remarks for newly enrolled students. In his speech, he thanked the freshers and their parents for choosing UAP. 

Among others, Qayum Reza Chowdhury, Chairman, BOT, as chief guest; Alhaj Abdul Malek Mollah, Member, BOT; Prof. Dr. MR Kabir, Pro-VC; Air Commodore (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhruy, Treasurer; Sarwar R Chowdhury, Registrar, and two alumni members addressed the programme.
