UAP students get VC and Dean's List Award for Fall 2016

A total of 199 students of different departments of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) received VC's Honour List Award on August 3, 2017 for their outstanding academic results in Fall 2016 at its new city campus in Green Road. 

UAP VC Prof. Jamilur Reza Choudhury distributed certificates among the awardees as the chief guest. Anhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Sr. Vice Chairman, BOT; Pro-VC, Dr. M. R. Kabir; Treasurer Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, and Registrar Sarwar R. Chowdhury attended the programme. 

Earlier, 249 students from different departments were awarded Dean's List for their brilliant results. The Pro-VC distributed the certificates among the awardees.


NUB organises CSE Day 2017

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) organised a "CSE DAY 2017" on August 1, 2017 at Banani campus. Programming Contest, Hardware and Software Project Showcasing and Gaming Contest took place as part of the programme. The event was presided over by Md. Raihan-ul-Masood, Head, Department of CSE, NUB. Prof. Dr. Abu Yousuf Md. Abdullah, Chairman, NUB Trust had was the chief guest. Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, VC, NUB; Prof. Dr. M. Kaykobad, Dept. of CSE, BUET, and Prof. Dr. Anwarul Karim, Pro-VC were special guests. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Ekram Ali Sheikh, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering was the session chair.


BRACU Football League comes to a thrilling end

EDF (Entrepreneurship Development Forum) Gladiators were crowned champions of BUFL 2017 after a nailbiting tie-breaker in the final against BUNSC (BRAC University Natural Sciences Club) Warriors on July 29. The tournament began on July 14 at the Army Hockey field in Banani. It was organised by Football Club of BRAC University, and presented by Active Color. The event was partnered by The Daily Star, Plaantik, SHOUT, Madchef, Wedding Foods, and Somoy TV. 

The 12 teams participating in the event were divided into 2 groups of 6 for the preliminary stages. When the two teams had met earlier in the group stages, BUNSC Warriors had outdone their fellow finalist by a single goal. In the final however, the match went to penalties after it remained goalless even after extra time. 

A painstaking assault on everyone's nerves finally ended with EDF winning 8-7 after 12 penalties. Amit Hassan, Coach of BRAC University Football Team handed out the prizes to the winners.


ULAB hosts Battle of the Senses

A fun debate featuring some of the most distinguished academics of the country was held at the auditorium of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) on August 4, 2017. The debate featured Professors Syed Manzoorul Islam, Kaiser Haq, Fakrul Alam, Azfar Hussain, Golam Sarwar Chowdhury and Shamsad Mortuza who spoke about sight, taste, sound, smell, touch and the sixth sense respectively. Writer, activist and entrepreneur Khushi Kabir presided over the programme as chief guest.

The programme began with remarks by Prof. Mortuza, Chair of the Department of English and Humanities, who spoke about the relationship between senses and existence. It was succeeded by a performance by Paper Canoe, ULAB Literary Society. The dance performed by the club beautifully embodied the role played by different senses. 

After the lively and illuminating academic discussions, the chief guest brought the programme to the end by emphasising on the necessity of including female voices not only in literary discussions but also in social dialogues. 


IUB and DAAD hold information session on study programmes in Germany

The School of Environmental Science and Management (SESM) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in collaboration with German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Bangladesh, held an information session for the students recently at the IUB campus. The programme started with opening address by Dr. Md. Abdul Khaleque, Dean, School of Environmental Science and Management, IUB. It was followed by the speech by the VC, Prof. M. Omar Rahman, who attended the programme as the chief guest. 

The session consisted of respective presentations by representatives of DAAD and of the German Embassy followed by an open Q&A session. The programme was attended by a large number of IUB students and faculties. 


SEU organises seminar on national drug policy

Department of Pharmacy of Southeast University (SEU) organised a seminar on "The Third National Drug Policy: Possible Impact in the Health Sector of Bangladesh" on July 31, 2017 in the Seminar Hall, Banani, Dhaka.

Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, VC of SEU chaired the seminar while Dr. Md. Siddiqul Islam, Chairman of Pharmacy department delivered the welcome speech. M. Kamaluddin Chowdhury, Representative of BOT, SEU Trust attended the seminar as chief guest.

Prof. ABM Faroque, Former Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka and Advisor, Department of Pharmacy, SEU was present as keynote speaker. Parvez Hashim, Executive Director, ACME Laboratories Ltd. was present as special guest.


Finance Forum, a wing of Career Counseling Centre of United International University (UIU) organised “FOCUS 17 - A National Finance Competition”. Sandeep Sethi, Finance and Control Director, Nestle Bangladesh Limited; Mohiuddin Rasti Morshed, Chief Executive, Mind Initiative Limited; and Gulnaz Alam, Head of HR, IPDC Finance Ltd, were present as guests. The winner of the competition was Mohammad Nazib Intesar from BUP. Md. Tanvir Ahmed of IBA, DU and Md. Mahfuzur Rahman of UIU achieved 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up positions respectively.
