Prof. M Omar Rahman, VC, Independent University Bangladesh, addressed a special discussion session and opinion sharing meeting with the parents and guardians of the students of the university on August 20, 2016 at IUB Auditorium in Bashundhara, Dhaka.

Relief distribution in Sirajgonj by BRACU students

BRAC University Pharma Society (BUPS) extended a helping hand to those who were in a difficulty due to the recent flood in the country. On August 13, 2016, a team of 10 students began the journey from Dhaka towards Belkuchi in the district of Sirajgonj. Each of the team members worked hard and showed patience to maintain discipline in efficiently distributing aid (food, water and clothing). This was followed up with a trip to Bordhul in the same district where students distributed aid among affected people of the region. 

Chairman of Belkuchi union, BRAC office in Belkuchi and local volunteers assisted the students to reach to remote destinations in this crisis situation. Smile in the face of the distressed and gratitude received from them brought satisfaction among the students and encouraged them to keep helping community in the future.

 

CU launches business competition BizAcumen'16



BizAcumen'16 , an inter-university business case solving competition was launched recently in University of Chittagong. Prof. Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, VC of University of Chittagong announced the opening of the competition. Rahul Datta, who is the senior international trainer of Digital Marketing at LICT Project, Government of Bangladesh conducted a workshop on how to solve a business case. Eighty teams from all over Bangladesh are going to participate in this competition. Society for Leadership Proliferation (SLP), an organisation of Department of Marketing, University of Chittagong is the organiser of this competition.

UIU holds 3rd WARD-UIU HR Summit



World Academy for Research & Development (WARD), a renowned education and training institute and United International University (UIU) jointly organised the 3rd WARD-UIU HR Summit on August 19, 2016. The theme of the conference was "Emerging Trends in Strategic HRM". 

Prof. Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, Pro-VC, UIU presided over the inaugural session where Dr. A K M Saiful Majid, Director, IBA was present as chief guest. Md. Musharrof Hossain, President, Asia Pacific Federation of HRM & BSHRM presented the keynote speech. Pramod Sadarjoshi, Senior Director, Oracle India delivered a session on "Leveraging HR Technology for Strategic Advantage". Noor Mohammad, Director, HR, GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh Ltd. delivered a session on "Strategy in Action" and focused on implementation of strategy for the organisation while Rupak M Nasrullah Zaidi, Head of HR, Prime Finance & Investment Ltd. delivered session on "Be the Business Champion: The Demand of Strategic HR". Alkona K. Choudhuri, Director, HR, STS Group Bangladesh covered session on managing workforce diversity and Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed, Chief HR Officer, Anwar Group of Industries talked about emerging trends in strategic HRM. Quazi M Ahmed, CEO, Future Leader chaired a working session and JishuTarafder, CEO & Lead Consultant, Corporate Coach delivered session on "Competency-based Training & Development".



NSU observes National Mourning Day with 3 day-long programmes



North South University chalked out three day-long programmes to mark the National Mourning Day from August 14 to August 16, 2016 at the NSU premises remembering the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 18 members of his family, who were brutally killed on August 15 in 1975. 

A candle light vigil was held by faculty members and students at NSU Shaheed Minar on August 14, 2016, at 8:01 pm. On August 15, 2016, the day began with placing floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32. In the second session that was held at NSU Auditorium, a documentary was shown on the life of Bangabandhu. Later, a discussion session was held where Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Minister of Finance, was the chief guest. Dr. Anisuzzaman, Professor Emeritus, University of Dhaka, was the keynote speaker. Lt. Col. (Retd.) Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir Bir Protik, Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, former Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, Member Secretary, Bangabandhu Memorial Trust, delivered their speeches as special guests. Cultural Minister, Asaduzzaman Noor was the chief guest in the third day on August 16, 2016 and Prof. Shamsuzzaman Khan, Director General, Bangla Academy, was the keynote speaker. Prof. Atiqul Islam, VC, NSU chaired the session and Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, NSU Board of Trustees (BOT), M. A. Hashem, Benajir Ahmed, Members, NSU BOT along with Deans and Chairs of different Schools and Departments, faculty members, administrative heads and officials and students attended the programme. Dilara Afroz Khan was the coordinator of the National Mourning Day 2016 Committee.



AIUB observes National Mourning Day



The 41st death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day was observed at American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) on August 15, 2016. 

Vice President (Academics) Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, Registrar Prof. M. A. Quaiyum, Chief Engineer Brig. Gen. Mahmudur Rahman Khandaker (Retd.), Director (Administration) Lt. Col. Golam Maula (Retd.) spoke on Bangabandhu's life and political contribution for the liberation of Bangladesh. 

Dean (Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences) Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Director (Accounts & Finance) Khondaker Sabbir Mohd. Kabir, Director (Public Relations) Md. Lutfar Rahman, Director (Students Affairs) Manzur H. Khan were present among other teachers, students, officers and employees of AIUB.
