FADING LIGHT

Before Darkness Prevails

Platform: Android

In Fading Light you control a pixel of light and navigate by tapping left or right on your screen. If that sounded basic and boring - the path happens to be a treacherous, dark maze and your pixel has limited light. When this runs out you're plunged into darkness and the game ends. Basically you have to quickly manoeuvre through the maze while your light is fading dimmer and dimmer and try to reach the finish line. Luckily you can collect light crystals along your way to recharge.

The maze walls' colour is also an important factor. Coming in contact with green walls has no effect on your light, blue walls drain it slowly and red walls cause an instant blackout. There are four game modes, each with various levels – Easy (green walls), Medium (blue walls), Hard (red walls) and Extreme which is an insanely tough mode where the walls, which you must avoid, are invisible. The controls are extremely easy to learn but the maze gets tougher with each level bringing new obstacles to test your reflexes. Once your light fades completely, you can play again right away without the need to wait for more 'lives' or get them through nasty purchases.

Overall, it's a challenging, quick paced game with nice, glowing visuals. Better background music would have further enhanced what is already very enjoyable gameplay.
