Bangladesh off-spinner Shohag Gazi will not be able to play the upcoming Test series against West Indies as he is being brought back home to undergo testing for his suspected bowling action.

Gazi has been reported for a suspected bowling action during the second ODI against West Indies in Grenada on August 22.

The off-spinner is required to undergo testing within 21 days from August 22. So he is being brought back home from West Indies for taking preparation to go to Cardiff in UK where he would have to go through checks, says Faruque Ahmed, chief selector of Bangladesh Cricket Board.

Gazi would miss the Test series against West Indies scheduled from September 5, Faruque told The Daily Star this afternoon.

An ICC press release stated that the match officials' report cited concerns about the legality of the 23-year-old's bowling action for all deliveries.

Shohag's bowling action will now be scrutinised further under the ICC process relating to suspected bowling actions. Sohag faced similar allegations back in 2012 when an umpire at the Shafi Darashah tournament in Bangalore reported him for his quicker delivery. He had to go through a few checks before being able to play first-class cricket again.
