Shift Zone

Its classics week on Shift, as we take a look at two 60's machines which took the world of fun family sedans by storm in their hey-days. The Japanese field hosts the third generation Toyota Corona RT40, a versatile, reliable and classically gorgeous car. This level of fit and finish in a restoration job was unheard of in Bangladesh even a few years ago, but with each passing day, the craftsmanship, finesse and owners' tastes are improving with massive leaps. On the American/European front, we have Ford's Cortina, a car that cemented Ford's position outside of America. The two cars signify the turning point for the worldwide car industry in the mid to late 1960s, when rising incomes meant car manufacturers had to scramble to make efficient, reliable and cheap-but-well-equipped machines for the masses.
