The perfect FB/SA Mazda RX7

Now is the perfect time to grab one (or three) 1/18 FB RX7s from AutoArt. Made from 1978-1985, Mazda’s little sports car captured the hearts of petrolheads thanks to 50:50 weight distribution. People loved it even when it broke down or the lovely pop-up headlights refused to pop…up. It offered superb handling for the time and the quirky rotary engine was a screaming little motor.

Design wise it's a stunner considering it comes from the era of the early 80s when everyone either went for excess flash or absolute boredom of squares. The beautiful shape has aged well and is captured perfectly by AutoArt.

Pros: Headlights pop up via a switch. Beautifully carpeted interior, accessible by doors or the hatch. You can almost smell the cigarette stained 80's courtesy of the check print on the seats. The engine is tiny and unfussy, but is shown with just the correct amount of plumbing and wiring. Gorgeous smooth paintwork of yellow, green or white with photoetched metal badges complete the look.

Cons: None really. I find the stock wheels ugly and that can be rectified with a set of aftermarket wheels. A very personal choice.

Verdict: Prices are around the 8k-10k Taka mark depending how you ship it. These are great value for an impeccably detailed car. You should get it because as is typical of popular AA models: they suddenly disappear and become pricey.
