Top 10 scale-model real life showcars from Hotwheels

Every kid and many grownups start their model car madness with a Hotwheels toy. HW has brought many interesting concepts to our pockets. And a few of the real life cars even started as a tiny Hotwheels toy. Here's the top 10 of all they made.

Deora

The Deora was yet another Hotwheels special. The original casting was only made for one year: 1968. It's most notable feature were the two removable surfboards. It was remade in 1994 and a more rounded, more futuristic version was made as the Deora II for 2000.

Dodge Charger

In 1999 Dodge debuted the Charger concept. It borrowed heavily from the second generation Charger with the side scoops and rear tail light treatment while being fitted with four doors. Hothweels launched their version in 2000 in metallic red. It looked as accurate as the real car without additional HW macho styling cues added on. 

Mustang I & II concept

The unfavored Mustang I concept of 1962 was released in 2010. The original Mustang II concept of 1963 was first released in 2011. Featured a chrome bumper and small SP5 wheels.

Alfa Romeo Carabo

60's were all about trying to make cars fly. The Alfa CArabo concept was shown in 1968 complete with scissor doors later popularised by the Countach. Hotwheels released theirs in 1970 complete with opening doors that were sadly prone to breaking. I had one as a kid and broke it only to realise after growing up what it was. The last known casting was in 1977.

Corvette Sting ray

The 1:1 concept debuted in 2009 powered by a hybrid powertrain. Sacrilege for a Corvette? This is the shape of things to come. It also starred as Sideswipe in the Transformer movie 'Revenge of the Fallen'. The Hotwheels model debuted in 2010.

1955 Futura

We've seen the Batmobile by Hotwheels. But the original car, the Lincoln Futura was a pearl white creation featuring twin bubble cockpits and semi covered wheels. Hotwheels made the concept only for their Boulevard series complete with rubber tyres and minus the Batmobiles afterburner.

Alfa Romeo BAT

Hotwheels debuted the Alfa Romeo BAT in 2005. I haven't seen this cast with anyone in Bangladesh. It looks very accurate to the real third prototype. Seems to be a metal on metal model and should be a must have for the diehard HW collector.

The Homer

There's an episode of Simpsons where Homer meets his long lost super rich brother who is now a car manufacturing tycoon. Homer designs the ultimate car for his brother. It is such a resounding flop, brother goes bankrupt. That car, in green, was released by HW in 2014 and is also available as part of the more sought after retro entertainment series.

Twin Mill

This may look like a toy but it is based on a real car based on a toy car. Yes, the Twin Mill was a life size fully functioning car made in-house at Mattel in 1969, the original car was metallic maroon and the HW model was done in red spectraflame. A little difficult to find but they have recast it in red once again. Just not spectraflame. There are also Twin Mill II and III with slightly modified features.

1:43 Miura

Hotwheels never made the original Miura but they cast the beautiful concept in 1:43 scale. The real car was shown to the public in 2006 and the HW followed soon after.
