Sheikh Russel's birth anniversary observed

The 50th birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel, youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was celebrated in Chapainawabganj town on Saturday amidst much festivity.

Chapainawabganj district administration and Shishu Academy jointly organised the programme at Shaheed Satu Hall.

Over 100 students of different schools took part in painting and handwriting competitions in different categories.

A discussion was held at the same venue. Nazrul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (revenue) presided over the discussion. Professor Sultana Razia, principal of Chapainawabganj Government College was present as chief guest.

After the discussion, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of the competitions.

Later, a colourful cultural programme was held at the auditorium where artistes of Mohananda Sangeet Niketan gave performances.
