Shamim’s brother gets JP ticket for by-polls

Selim Osman, elder brother of Awami League lawmaker Shamim Osman, got nomination from Jatiya Party to contest the Narayanganj-5 by-poll.

JP Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu told this to reporters today after a meeting between Shamim Osman, lawmaker from Narayanganj-2 constituency, and Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad at the latter's Banani office in the capital around 11:50am.

During the 15-minute meeting, Shamim sought JP’s nomination for his elder brother, Selim Osman, for the by-poll.

Selim is the former president of Narayanganj Chambers of Commerce.   

The seat fell vacant on April 30 following the death of JP lawmaker Nasim Osman, the elder brother of Shamim.

Jatiya Party presidium members Anisul Islam Mahmud and Mushiur Rahman Ranga, secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu were, among other present, during the meeting.
