Shakib banned for 6 months

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been banned from all forms of cricket for six months for breaching rules.

To keep him from participating in international leagues, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has also decided not to issue him any no-objection certificate (NOC) for 18 months.

This means the ace cricketer, who plays regularly in Indian Premier League and other international tournaments, will not be able to take part in such matches till December 31, 2015.

The decision came after the BCB received a "series of allegations" against the all-rounder, BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon said while briefing reporters on the BCB ruling this afternoon.

Shakib does not obey the coach and captain of the national team, he said.

"He has a severe attitude problem, which is affecting the total team. Others in the team are starting to show the same attitudes."

He warned of banning Shakib forever "if such attitudes are shown again in the future".

Shakib returned to Dhaka from London after the cricket board asked him to do so while he was on his way to Barbados to join Caribbean Premier League without taking any NOC from the board.
Shakib appeared before the BCB board at its Mirpur headquarters this afternoon, a day into his return from London.

He had left Dhaka on July 2 for Barbados to play the entire tournament for the Barbados Tridents. He was expected to return to Bangladesh in mid-August, in time for the side's series against West Indies.

On July 3, BCB's acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury asked Shakib to return home for leaving the country without NOC from the board.

Responding to a query, Papon said that Shakib would receive his salary and other benefits as per Suspension Law during the period.
