Section 144 in Dharmapasha over pro-AL rallies

Authorities today imposed ban on gathering at Shaheed Minar area in Sunamganj’s Dharmapasha upazila in view of simultaneous rallies declared by pro-government bodies.

Section 144 was enforced since 6:00am for 18 hours to avert anarchy caused by rallies of Awami League and Jubo League’s upazila unit, reports our Sunamganj correspondent.

Dharmapasha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Saiful Islam declared the embargo.

Contacted, Md Hasanzaman, officer-in-charge of Dharmapasha police station said authorities were forced to take the decision to avert confrontation.

Additional police forces were deployed in the area.
