The Supreme Court today directed the counsels for both the state and convicted war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury to submit by February 26 the concise statements on the appeal filed by the BNP leader challenging the verdict against him.

A concise statement contained the point on which the counsels place arguments on the appeal before the court.

None of the counsel for state and defence was present at the courtroom when a five-member bench of Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain passed the order.

On October 1, last year, the International Crimes Tribunal- 1 convicted Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and sentenced him to death for committing crimes against humanity during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.

On October 29 of the same year, the BNP leader filed an appeal with the apex court seeking acquittal form the charges.
