The Saudi delegation in Dhaka today scruitinised the passport delivery procedures ahead of inking a deal to resume manpower import from Bangladesh after seven years.

The 19-men team, led by Dr Ahmed Al Fahaid, deputy minister for international affairs of the KSA’s labour ministry, visited a special branch office in Dhaka to scrutinise the procedure of machine readable passport (MRP) this morning.

The country is set to sign a deal with Bangladesh regarding manpower recruitment today after a long seven years of embargo over complaints of irregularity in the recruitment process.

Later, the delegation visited Dhaka Medical College Hospital and inquired about the procedure of handing medical certification for jobseekers.

The expected deal to take domestic helps and drivers in the primary phase is expected to be signed at the Ministry Of Expatriate Welfare And Overseas Employment this afternoon.

The delegation leaves Dhaka tomorrow morning.

The recruitment, which might employ around 10,000 workers per month, is expected to be at a “minimum cost” with the travel expenses undertaken by employers.
