Saudi fire: 6 bodies arrive

The bodies of six Bangladeshi migrants were brought home from Saudi Arabia today 18 days after their deaths in a factory fire.

A flight of Bangladesh Biman carrying the bodies landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 3:00pm.

The victims are Mohammad Selim, Motiur Rahman, Mohammad Jalal, Shah Alam, of Comilla while Khorshed Alam Akkas from Madaripur and Jakir Hossain from Noakhali.

The bodies were handed to their relatives at the airport with Tk 35,000 each for burial costs, said Dr Ziauddin, deputy secretary of the expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment ministry’s wage earners welfare board.

Nine Bangladeshis were killed while four other Bangladeshi workers of the factory luckily escaped the fire at the small Titas Furniture factory in Shifa Sanaya of Riyadh on May 12.

The bodies of the three others will be brought back after completion of the procedure of their visa status.
