Satkhira AL man killed in factional clash

An Awami League activist was killed and 14 were injured in a factional clash in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira this afternoon.
The clash erupted due to long-lasting enmity between the supporters of Khajra Union Parishad chairman Shah Nawaz and its former chairman Ruhul Kuddus around 5:30pm, said Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge of Ashashuni Police Station.
The deceased was identified as Ashraf Ali Fakir, 40, a supporter of Nawaz, reports our Satkhira correspondent.
Both Kuddus and Nawaz are local leaders of the ruling party.
At least 25 homemade bombs went off during the clash, the police official said.
Ashraf sustained injuries in a bomb blast and succumbed to death on his way to hospital, he added.
Law enforcers were deployed in the area to avoid any further untoward incident.
