Sardar Fazlul Karim remembered in Barisal

Sardar Fazlul Karim remembered in Barisal

Eminent educationist and philosopher Sardar Fazlul Karim was remembered at his native district Barisal on Saturday afternoon, with a call to preserve his memory and follow his philosophy.

Wajirpur Samitee Barisal organised the programme at Ashwini Kumar Hall.  Dr. Md. Shamsul Haque, president of the organisation, presided over the session.

Sardar Fazlul Karim was an outstanding scholar and teacher, and a dedicated left wing politician.

Sardar Fazlul Karim describes himself as an “ordinary, weak, unfit and poor, non-ambitious observer of life.” His memoirs are a bright and unforgettable account of the lives of his contemporaries and himself, the speakers said.

Sardar had a great sense of humour. He was an orator and debater. He could analyse difficult social issues with ease for his readers. Sardar always thought that we are living in a revolution and should not despair, so we should not be afraid of the devilish power of the enemy. Our strength lies in a great tradition of struggle of our oppressed people and so we should not give up the remembrances of Sardar Fazlul Karim, his works, contributions and achievements, they said.

Born to a lower middle class family of Atipara under Wazirpur upazila of Barisal in 1925, the luminary breathed his last on June 15 this year at Dhaka.
