BNP today alleged that abductors of Abu Bakar Siddique, husband of prominent environment lawyer Syeda Rizwana Hasan, were involved in the disappearance of its leader M Ilias Ali.

BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the remark while addressing a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office at noon.

Ilias, former lawmaker and organising secretary of BNP's Sylhet Division, and his driver Ansar Ali have been missing since April 17, 2012 from Banani in the capital.

Meanwhile, Gunmen kidnapped Siddique on Wednesday afternoon from Delpara area in Fatullah of Narayanganj on his way to the capital. They freed him reportedly around 11:00pm yesterday after 33 hours.

He also said the target of Ilias Ali's disappearance was to give warning to BNP to refrain from its movement and abduction of Siddique was aimed to warn the people who are active in free thinking.

Sheikh Hasina-led government will never reveal the name of those involved in the abduction of Siddique because the ruling party thinks that it would be disgraceful for them to express the true account, he further said.
